First Takes: K-7 Video by Ned Bunnell

Ned Bunnell has posted his first takes of video clips by the K-7 with Beta Firmware Version 0.34 and 0.35. Here it is:-

And, his full and clear remarks about the clips are in his blog:-

It seems that he has not mentioned anything about the (Contrast Detection)AF during video recording whilst he has stated that Apertures from f/2 to f/8 can be chosen before video recording starts. Nevertheless, since the Firmware is still under development, I think this would let Pentax's engineers to work on the missing features in the meantime. But of course, I don't want to see that the CDAF is still lacking in the end and I do hope that the K-7 shall be able to do at least what the Canon 500D is able to do, i.e., CDAF on demand during video recording.

As for the video quality, colours and smoothness for Ned's latest video clips, I find them to be quite nice for all clips.

  1. Pretty impressive for non-final firmware. Specially the low-light candlelight sample.
