To name a few of those more infamous ones, which have been reported more numerously, are: Canon 10D / 350D, Nikon D70, Pentax *ist D / DS / DL and K10D.

So, you can see the problem is with any brand. However, Pentax DSLRs seem to have more problems than the other brands, i.e., more Pentax models here.

Do note that my above impression maybe not totally accurate as I do read Pentax forums more frequently, nevertheless.

> For now I own K100D and there is no focusing problems for me, and if actual auto focus quality is same for K10D, then its OK for me.

My researches tell me that the K100D has (much) less reported AF problems except that it still does FF under tungsten lightings.

> P.S. I understand that the lens itself doesn't have much to do with the problem, as focusing is "through the lens", and all mechanincs and smarts are in the camera body. Is this correct? (Aside from infinity focusing problems where the lens cannot mechanically achieve infinity due to the focus ring stopping too early)

PS: You have a great blog site with a wealth of information, thank you!

Kind Regards.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
