Big Pentax Q Price Cut in Hong Kong (and Now in US Too)

Via: DC Fever (in Chinese)

The above newspaper cutting shows that it is now priced at HK$3,998 which is equal to US$512.56 for the prime kit!

Cheap enough? But then what does this mean and hint?

Update (4-13): The Amazon prices have also been reduced latest for the Q, now US consumers can get at at about US$540 brand new for the same kit, via 1001 Noisy Cameras.

Good for us... bad for Pentax.

I think, there must be a reason for so hudge price cut.
Simple, they want to clear the stock of the Q. Frankly, the initial selling price of the Q was unrealistically set too high.
I wait for K-3, K-z and Q2 this year. And maybe 645DII.

Q2 of this year has already come! ;-)
When it drops to $300 I will buy a set as a toy.

Me too, possibly. But then the Q2 may come and people will NOT buy the original Q whatever by that time!
500 USD is normal price for high-end compact camera.
well Nikon J1 is selling around $4400 in HK now, so there is no way Pentax Q should be over that price. (But J1 in Japan is even cheaper, selling at about 28500yen, which is about $2730

Pentax does seem to have suicidal tendencies.
Just returned from PhotoForum Moscow 2012. Pentax will have 4 new cameras this year. K-5 successor, K-30 - bridge camera, FF camera with Sony sensor and cheaper version of 645D. It was unofficial as a rumor =) But.. I believe in it =)
