Attraction of Nikon

Our honourable official Pentaxian of the Year, Mr. Lance Blackburn, has gone completely Nikon, even now for the APS-C format, see:-

via Lance B is enjoying his Nikon D7000!: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review:

This is somewhat against what was told by Lance before, as some posters in the above DPR discussion thread have already pointed out, I also wonder if Lance would use his K-7 and Pentax system anymore. At least it can be seen (in his profile page) that he posts nothing more about Pentax at the DPR forums, but just Nikon! Lance, all my best wishes to you for enjoy using your D700 plus new D7000 body with all those new beloved Nikkor lenses of yours! Hope you use them to take more great photos then! :=D

Btw, I just wonder, what "push" Lance to get the D7000 instead of the K-5? Do these ten reasons apply? :-o

His main reason to go Nikon is Full-Frame.
Then D7000 is because of he doesn't want dual system.
I'm disappointed by the obvious glee and its intent in this post, rice. What's Lance's decisions got to do with the rest of the Pentax users?

Well he likes the K-5 bird photos: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=...

Lance is a free agent and can make his own decisions for his own needs. He's not the only dslr user who has more than one brand of camera.
I have no problem with your comment on possible problem areas for Pentax, but the gleeful tone in this last post is kicking this small company in a most opportunistic way. Very sad.

I guess a bigger news would be if RH goes full Canon.

Hey, Rice. I think you "10 reasons" should be updated. The latest problems, i.e. stains on sensors, the flash output accuracy problem, and now the lowlight AF front-focus problem, as reported by many users on various forums again adds to the concerns of buyers or upgraders. Once again, they show the reluctance of Pentax to confess to any problem by way of an official statement.

Luring Pentax to give him some freebies doesn't make him an icon, just a follower of what politicians do every day. But if he is honest with himself and buys what he likes/needs/prefers, that's a great personal achievement!
Previous rice post some time back: 'Further investing in the current Pentax system is just a dead end, very frankly, IMVHO.'

What many of us wonder, rice, is if your advice is so good, why haven't you followed it yourself?
Surely your time would be better spent on a Blog for a camera you liked.

Depends on your needs really.

I'm doing very well with a full pentax set up that cost less than the 300mm f2.8, but I also have no need for one. Pick the right tool, it has nothing to do with brands.

But Lance B. also posted today :

"Understandable, the K-5 looks to be one hell of a camera. The D7000 is excellent, but the K-5 gets more marks according to DPR and it looks to deserve them. I was tossing up whether to get the K-5 for my Pentax glass, and I may still get one yet, but the D7000 was what I wanted in the short term.
Enjoy your new K-5 when you get it!"

I think if NIKON and PENTAX will have fixed the first production problems - than both cameras will be a good choice. Maybe the K-5 a little bit better in point of image quality ;-)

Rice, your so childish. Lance can do whatever he wants, he's a grown man...
You seem to revel in bringing this up like an excited schoolboy...
Nikon is a better system., That is a fact. So, it is not that much weird for someone who needs better results to change system to a better one.
