I did some long exposures two weeks ago with my K-1 trying to get some falling stars. I went up to 300 seconds, and I didn't get those white dots, and I wasn't using the long exposure noise reduction!
Nice to hear some counterexample.
How much was the ambient temperature? It affects this issue!

It was a cold summer night, the temperature was around 22°C. I think the sensor and especially the processor were as hot as they can get, I was trying to take falling stars, and in order to get them you have to take short (5-10 seconds) exposures, so the camera was in burst mode using a wired remote with the button locked. Alongside those bursts I also took some longer exposures to try to get the milky way.
The sensor resets after every exposeur, so only the longer ones (30+ seconds minimum) count. But these are definitly good news.
Yes, I took one 300 seconds exposure, and also some 120, 60 and 30 second ones, in between those 5-10 second bursts. It was just to add that the sensor was practically always on before, and a lot of stress was also for the processor, that might have heated the whole camera. If you take a single long exposure, even an hour long, the processor works only after the exposure is taken. Taking bursts the processor, the buffer, and the sd are always on and working! The light of the sd was always blinking, and after a while I could even hear the burst was slowing down, so also the buffer was full! When I popped out the full sd it was also warm, something I never experienced from a camera!
I do some test, I've put some info on getdpi forum. To summerize, on some setting I got white dots, on some I cannot see it. Max was 15 min exposure, also I take 50 exposures and combine them and not get any of white dots. So I don't know that to think about. phots:

On pentaxforums they said only some K-1's are affected, not all.
