Its not sure that Pentax will have to die. Look at the Sigma DSLR, that is a proof that a brand can survive with zero sales and zero relevance, simply because it is a hobby of one or two senior guys at Sigma.
That wouldn't be impossible neither with Pentax within Ricoh would it? It all depends, if their management tolerates this long-term or not, which we don't know ;)
