Handheld pixel resolution and high ISO settings are tested. The result pictures are self-explanatory with simple legends.
In short, the handheld pixel resolution is a hit-n-miss game, I'm afraid. Sometimes, the outcome would be even worse. Besides, the improvement at high ISO values is not really significant. Subtle improvement could be seen, though, IMHO.

In short, forget about it. It is much worse than the oldschool method image stacking in photoshop, available for everyone.
I was astonished how bad the pixel shift results are. The trees in the distance look ugly like the overprocessed JPEGs from a smartphone. Even worse than a single-short RAW.
The sharpness/crispness is much inferior to the Photoshop image stacking workflow. "Much" really means much, much worse. Even with both having the same number of exposures (4). And even after the the megapixels have been equalized again (which dpreview always do for ease of comparison).
The foreground trees' leaves are jagged, almost ruined, because the movement detection doesn't seem to work effectively.
At least in that respect, the K-1 II seems to be a failure (and so does the K-1 I software update then).
No suprise, that no-one (pre-)orders the K-1 II at Amazon.com, else it wouldn't rank below DSLR sales rank #500 (body only). Amazon also counts pre-orders for its sales ranking.

I've never used pixy-dust-shift on the k1 or the ass-tro-shooter function. These features do not enhance the way I use the camera. If you do need or want the hand-held-pixy you may be disappointed.
The K-1 is the first pentax body that I have used AF to any extend. I still use AF < 20% of the time. The k-1 has decent AF although not the fastest. For most of my applications there is no make of camera that has an AF system that would work or that I would want to use.
I am happy to see Pentax has come out with the updated body. It shows that they may still have a pulse.
I'm lucky that the k-1ii is not costing me anything out of pocket. If this was not the case I would willingly pay for it.
