Too Much Bullshit about the K-New by Ricoh Pentax Recently

The talks by Ricoh Pentax become more and more absurd recently. This time they argue on keeping the old body design without any flipped monitor.

This move again disappointed many Pentaxians. Live viewing and framing will become difficult on quite some occasions. Even worse, it is widely believed that the K-New does not even have any GPS module built in. And, they compared the thickness of the K-New against the K-1, which is utterly nonsense.

A Pentaxian at the Chinese Xitek quickly compared the thickness of the K-new and KP and he proved that the two cameras actually measure similarly, even the KP equips with a flipped monitor.

So, the fact is simply that Ricoh Pentax has been too lazy and too mean to build a newer and better featured body but opted to modify the old K-3/II's one in a very moderate way. Period.

I am disappointed with the direction Pentax is going. Soon they will become totally irrelevant if not already so. Don't get me wrong. I am not a troll and I use exclusively Pentax/Ricoh brand cameras since 2008. But they are making it hard for me to stick with the brand. I do have some Pentax lens invested over the years; they are good and I don't want to part with them. Why can't they be more like Fuji and even Panasonic, and make themselves relevant again. One can argue all he/she wants about how great Pentax is in a niche. However, there is no denying that the niche is getting more and more niche every day. Why can't they just make a Panasonic S5, Canon RP or Nikon Z5 in K-mount?

I think it is great! You simply can't put a 3.2" touchscreen on a body of K3 dimensions without compromise. They made it fixed and added the AF joystick. This is an action camera with Nikon D500 capabilities and an incredible OVF. Have you got a spare $1800?
Maybe they will update the K70/KP segment with a more rounded camera with flippy screen. Nobody has access to Ricoh's future plans!

Hi, guys. I used Pentax for many years, starting from ME Super, MZ-5n and others. Just recently I switched to another brand. Sold all of my lenses, and even the stunning Sigma 18-35/1.8 (the hardest to part with). Still, I had no choice. Pentax is going to sink into oblivion soon.
Wat is your advice? Sell everything?

I agree Rice...those stupid posts about the eye sensor and this reduction in size...its BS...just unveil it already, tell us about AF and video capabilities and whether this is closer to KP or a K3II successor? Plus, if we got limited lenses with this, ok, but Pentax lenses have exploded in size....

If you can't see what this camera will be by now then you are the stupid one. Think of a DSLR camera with Fujifilm X-T4 specs for stills and maybe 4K video. Nikon D500 AF plus K-3 ergonomics and you will become enlightened. Keep saving though because it won't be cheap.

Dear People,
Relax, it's just our hobby! I personally am not a fan of Canikon. The old Minolta (Sony) is probably the best system? Buy Sony does not appeal to me either. While it lasts, I'm glad there a new Pentax bodies to pair with our lenses. As a owner of 8 working digital bodies (both APS-C and FF) the KP and K-S2 are my preference bodies. Everything to come is a gift. Have fun today, start shooting. And enjoy Pentax equipment with lasting historical origins and feelings. I myself am looking forward to the new 16-50 2.8 DA*
