1. A Q-s1 Unboxing and Review (Traditional Chinese):-

Sample photos and ISO crops test are posted, which are self-explanatory.

2. HD 16-85 Test Review (Japanese):

The colour rendition seems different, not that Pentax tasted anymore. No sure about it's the problem of the K-3 or the new lens, or both?!

3. Yet Another HD 16-85 Test (Japanese):

"problem of the K-3 or the new lens, or both?!" - probably a problem of a badly calibrated screen, the pictures look good to me. Or are you again just looking for something to bash Pentax with?
Seems to be a good walk around lens. But lets wait for more extensive tests to come out. Still, for me, lenses with the aperture of 3.5-5.6 are of no interest anymore.
the color rendition looks pretty darned good! what's to complain about? that lens looks like it has some nice contrast. the full resolution images i've seen from it look sharp across the frame. at least at smaller apertures. this lens is like the best zoom pentax has released yet in terms of IQ. I bet its not really slower than the 17-70 throughout that range too.

best consumer walk around zoom I meant to say btw. there are certainly better lenses like the 50-135 and 60-250. the 20-40 is no slouch either.
I have it and overal it's am excellent zoom lens. It's very sharp between 16 and 50mm from center to edge, very little aberations, excellent colour response, good Bokeh. Distortion, flare and Vignetting is average. But it's true, it is slow and it needs quite some light.
I'm with Rice on this. He's not saying the color is bad, just that it doesn't look like Pentax. It looks much like my Nikon. Half the reason I switched from Nikon to Pentax was that the Pentax color rendering, particularly of greens, was more to my taste. The only photo in the reviews that wouldn't stand out just a bit if I was going through them is the one with the wagon wheel in the first review -that look like it could have come straight out of my 50-135 (though maybe the wood is a touch warmer than the 50-135 would render it). In the rest, the greens lean towards yellow more than the lean towards blue as they do with my pentax lenses.
