Perfect first impression! Amazing sharpness of the pictures. Also with non-digital lenses.
I really think K1 is a VERY GOOD camera.
May be I consider a classic LTD now .....
It is going to be an excellent camera. Good news to Pentexians, bad news to other manufacturers. And look at that price!!!!!!!. I have several lenses when I bought LX and Super Program, I would be pleased to use those lenses.
It seems to be the ultimate camera for landscapes, especially at night, and for macros. And generally a good camera for everything! Especially at that price!
Actually, I was hoping the K-1 to be smaller and lighter and having a built-in flash. But anyway, I will buy and have to buy.

In my opinion light cameras are difficult to hold, and I don't get a good feel and balance. Pentax LX was a very balanced camera, but was not that light, although it may be the lightest and smallest camera when compared by its competition in those times (Nikon F3 and Canon A1. The built-in flash usually belongs to point and shoot cameras. I am glad that K-1 does not have one, because, I am planning to buy either Metz 64 AF-1 for Pentax mount (much more powerful than Pentax AF540FGZ_II), or Quantum Qflash Trio QF8 (it does not support Pentax TTL, howver, TTL is not a big deal for me, but, would be nice to have). One good thing about Qflash is its studio type reflector. I wish Pentax can come up with its own studio reflector type flash, and probably almost every K-1 buyer will buy one. If Pentax can manufacture K-1, this flash would not be a big deal to design and manufacture. Rice, if you agree, tell it to Pentax. I think this may result in a better sale of K-1 for Pentax.
Regarding flash I don't care. May be the K-1 is indeed a little bit big/heavy... That's why I don't leave the compact Pentax APS-C line. But I prefer magnesium and steel instead of plastic ....
Having a flash built-in is handy, but having to choose between a flash and a gps i surely prefer the latter! Also because having the possibility to go at iso 6400 and more you probably get a better image without using the flash, sure you would lower the iso a lot, but you will get a really flat image, with a dark background. It might be handy to use it for master with other flashes, but you will probably be in a studio-like environment. It's easier to have something attached to the camera when you are in a studio than when you are in the nature!
Pentax would possibly be well-advised to offer, as a future FF camera, or as an option, a further downsized body "K1 extra small" without SR.

Because:
* the film cameras people (you) are comparing the K1 with did not have SR either,
* all those Canikon customers have to do without SR most of the time, i.e. when they a using a lens that does not have image stabilization.
* with the high ISO capabilities of today, some applications do not need SR.

Without SR, of course, you also lose astrotracer, superresolution and the low-pass filter simulation. Consequently, such a body could do without GPS, possible introducing the pop-up flash again. Also, the back display could be fixed again (as it was on all previous Pentax DSLRs). AFAIK, the K-1 is not particularly high or wide, just very deep compared to a K-5, and therefore such a model could well end up with a form factor close to a K-5. Which would be a major selling point.

I also wish that K-1 had the slowest ASA of 50 ASA.
As for flash, I bought simple Metz 24 it cost me 50$ it have swivel head so it give more possibility. I used my K5 flash about 10 time ( for 75 000 frames) Only 10 times as mostly lens get into light and make ugly shadow.
So I'm waiting for K1. I recently bought Tamron 60B 300 2.8 + Pentax AF Adaptor. Tamron is great! Will work great for
The main purpose of a builtin Flash is, IMO, to control an off-camera (maybe handheld) Flash. See the strobist blog.

And for that I'll miss the popup Flash. But I agree, I prefer the GPS as well.

for off camera I use Yonguono RF902 it is more reliable. receiver have screw so I can mount flash on tripod with ball head. Work very well http://www.krochmal.eu/Various/Wallpapers/i-G4W9k...
New nice photo gallery, taken with K1 at dc.watch, 07 March 2016: http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/review/special...
