Looks long and heavy, perfect size for an 85 not for a 50 - can you measure filter thread. The 24-70 has 82mm. The D-FA 50 looks like 67-77mm.
All that implies that the 85 will be even longer, even heaver and have a filter thread beyond 82mm - 82mm is the thead diameter for the most common filter Systems from LEE; Haida, ...

From the comparison image above, it is either a 72 or 77 as roughly measured.

I am eagerly waiting for 85mm f/1.4
Great that such a high-quality lens is available.
But no, I won't buy it. I'd like to see more compact designs.
It can be screw-driven if it's more compact.

It is not available yet, but would be soon, either by the end of 2017 (which is very near), or in the beginning of 2018. I believe that for the portraiture work this would be an ideal lens. The 85mm focal length is ideal for portraits and f1.4 aperture would be good for a nice bokeh. Of course, one can definitely use it for any other purpose, including landscapes, product and other work, where suitable.
Yes, this bulk and weight turns many people off.

Where are the times gone, when pentax stood for compact, solid bodies and lenses. When this was the core of the brand.

I thought the trend is towards downsizing again, many professional users of these big and heavy systems (e.g. wedding photographers with e.g. Nikon D8x0 + Sigma ART lenses) are fed up of that burden, get rid of it, and go for Fuji X or even Micro-3/4, and never look back or turn back.

These days, Fuji X has become what Pentax once represented. Fuji has a pretty complete line of compact f/2.0 prime lenses with leica-ish rendering. Kind of the new Limiteds. There's obviously a demand and a success factor associated with that.

Why not attempting to introduce this compactness to Pentax full frame lenses? (for the K-1 it is too late of course, but lenses shouldn't make it worse).
Do we really need to see Sigma ART clones the coming years, one after the other?

I think Pentax still have compact body's (KP) and lenses (limiteds) ... However I agree with the need of compactness, I love my mobile (!) and camera's such as Sony RX100 etc.
