DPR is Doomed

I received this message from the Dpreview Admin yesterday and thought that was a hoax at the first glance but it is actually true:

So, the DPR is really doomed, even earlier than Pentax. :-o

- DPReview, a tiny operation within a large Amazon company. "Not profitable enough". DPReview gets dumped out of the sudden, w/o warning, w/o notice, as DPReview doesn't count, isn't important for Amazon.

- Pentax, a tiny a tiny operation within a large Ricoh company. "Not profitable enough". Pentax gets dumped out of the sudden almost w/o warning, w/o notice, as Pentax doesn't count, isn't important for Ricoh.

Anyone here spotting any similarities in the above scenarios? 😉
Now, attach the two numbers [2023], [2024] to the two statements above. Everyone who gets it right, deserves a cookie 🙂

I hope Pentax could live longer than we expected. Btw, no one had ever guessed that Pentax could out-live DPR. ;-)

Actually I think Amazon would prefer not to have independent reviews of equipment. Amazon might well like the use of their reviews rather than an honest broker , just a thought
