Now, One Clear Photo of the New Pentax DSLR!

Bodies from the Left: Pentax Kx, K20D, K200D and K-m (where x = unknown ;-))

Just seen this picture from the following link, actually made by the same person for the "Mr. Blurry Cameraphone" photos for the new Pentax DSLR body (here and here):-

http://cid-9c2325683f4c3b9c.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/%E6%91%84%E5%BD%B1%E5%99%A8%E6%9D%90/PENTAX%20Rumors/IMG|_0153|_ps|_up.jpg
(Edit 4-20: Page Removed, only a dead link is left)

So, again, I would say: It is REAL!

And, three more observations:-

1. From this angle on the body top, it now looks as if it still has a built-in flash/RTF. It is just because if there is no RTF, Pentax would have make the top "one-piece" but not in two zones as seen. I'd be so happy if it is really the case! :-))

2. The new body has a Black shutter release button instead of a Silver one, so it is of the K20D grade or above it. Judged together on the mode dial of the last (blurry) photo, a higher grade and improved (hopefully) DSLR body is almost for sure! :=D

3. There seems to be a Microphone hole opening on the head of the camera in front of the Hotshoe, which implies it is a video capable DSLR! :-0

the second right camera is not the k100d, the k100d has no green button

  2. Yes, it should be the K200D. Thanks for the correction. :-)

Wait, the left camera does not have green button?

  4. Pentax may have adopted a new design, say, to use another button to replace the function of the green button.

  5. It sure looks smaller than the K20D in this image...
But, the angle at which this picture is takes also suggest the K20D is smaller than the K200D ...

looks like it possibly has a pentaprism/larger viewfinder.

  7. The images on this guy's blog has been pulled this morning. I guess this confirms the authenticity of the source, which I believe is an employee of Pentax Shanghai.

Info we can gather so far: new K20D-class body, smaller, with EV compensation and ISO buttons in similar array as the newest 645D prototype, possibly green button on the back as 645D as well. I've heard that it would have video capability for a long time so it would most definitely feature 3-inch VGA LCD and mini-HDMI output as the other brands have it for more than a year now.

  8. A Hoya senior official told in the PMA that their new DSLR will have all the current popular features which the competitors have, so that Pentax users won't feel (to be) "inferior" anymore for using the Pentax system. It now looks as if what they have told will come true soon, I hope.

Look at the prism on the K-X.

    It must be a FullFrame.
Most likely it's the Sony 24,6MP FF sensor

    Kind regards

    David

  11. Just imo, but I think that's a new prism which is pentax patent, "relay finder system" or something like that.

  12. No, it is NOT Full Frame. It has been almost fully verified that the lens mounted in all the photos is simply the DA 35 Limited. But the DA 35 does have a smaller image circle than Full Frame, i.e., dark corners only disappear at around 1.15X cropped, as tested and found out here.

It is just a monitor blurred with PS, I guess.

  14. German web site tekade.de/index.php is accepting orders for new Pentax. Price will be 1500 e and specs to be published soon. Delivery will be jun-jul.

  15. Actually I have seen that yesterday but I don't think it is creditable. First, no one will pre-order something without any information on it. Second, the naming conversion it states (KxxD) is not correct as Pentax/Hoya had already dropped the "D" letter for their DSLR since the K-m/K2000.

I've seen photos and specs of this new K7 (yes, simply K7). Not the revolution everybody expected, but catching up with the competition + some.

100% viewfinder, kind-of-metal-housing, hd-videomode, better, faster and more accurate af, 5-6fps, many little changes in order to improve ergonomy...

TeKaDe is absolutely trustworthy. He is personally well known in different german newsgroups of Photography an on Pentax-relatet Themes, he often organizes 'omnibus orders' to get lenes for less and so on.

I've talked to the swedish general agent for pentax and they told me that the camera will be launched in july. It's not a FF camera and is not the successor of k20d. More advanced then the K20d.
