So, the K200D too was discontinued in Japan but not in the US and other locations. This is somewhat telling, but in no way definitive for the K20D's case, right? So hold off just completely writing it off yet

These models are not *in production* anymore. You can still buy it as long as the stock lasts, but not anymore after that.
