IMHO, this is degrading for both women AND Pentax. The girls are not even having fun as some guys are blatantly photographing their butts and cleavages as they lean over the pool table... Come on...

This kind of marketing points out some negative things for the brand image. In my opinion, they should make smart marketig instead showing a pair of tits... or a million color camera. Well, it seems they are only interested in oriental asian market, where these kind of "things" and marketing is "cool". In fact maybe all brands do this there. I just don't get it.

I hope I'm wrong, but this video and, more importantly, what is not directly featured in the video (this is: Pentax-Ricoh's sense of reality) looks creepy.

Sex sells and always has. If you want me to look at your products put a couple of hot chicks around them, I will look. It might all be about getting some attention in a crowded market/tradeshow.

You are right... in a way.

However, I am afraid that this kind of marketing may become deterrent. Pentax should reinforce their traditional values: Cult, Fair Priced, Reliability, Rugged, etc. As Kawasaki says, at the end this is a maney issue, and how much do you invest in marketing. I think this video does not show the right direction.

It iz not Pentax, but rather Ricoh managerz now in charge of Pentax. They have a very bad taste and zero marketing knowledge. They have no idea what iz marketing; writing Pentax along poor girl's bosoms iz NOT it.

Actually I recall Pentax pulling similar stunts (in Korea ?) with scantily clad models *before* the Ricoh purchase.

The youtubes were referenced here on the Rice website.

In any case, I believe the decisions on marketing rests squarely on the country's local marketing distributor - rather than Ricoh. But who knows how these decisions are really made.

When zero money is given to good quality and smart marketing, last rezort are tasteless and sorry attemptz such az these. One one hand, Pentax dezerves such sorry fate because it never invested in its own, smart, long term marketing.
