Stuck K-3 Vertical Grip: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3679291

HD 20-40 IQ Not Good, 4 copies found the same, i.e., still bad: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3677497

HD 20-40 actually not supporting FF: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3680694

Yet another Pentaxian switched: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3679693

Okay, after all these "negative" news, here is a better one: The originally much overpriced DA560 now has its price cut quite significantly: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3680108

Yes, all these news are read from the front page of the DPR Pentax forum, which I have not visited for long actually.

On that post of a Pentaxian switching, the first page has two people saying they are switching from mirror less to Pentax......

Yes, that's good for sure! ;->
When can we expect a post called "Pentax 'Positive' Reports Today"?
Two of my friends who own Canon 5D markII are going to buy a Pentax because less weight, less expensive and great image quality ;-)

6 I know went FF, so?
Yes ... Clearly widespread,we never hear of bad reports on the internet, if i believed them all I would never book a hotel from Trip Advisor or go to a restaurant because of Yelp!....... Thanks god we have Sony...
DA20-40's IQ is rather good. The lens is sharp wide-opened in the center at all focal length.
The lens has other problems. QC is the main problem.

A $996.95 lens should be perfect the first one you buy
It's 1000 EURO in EUROPE. It's not perfect, it's just very good. I've changed mine to FA31, too many problems with 20-40.
If Pentax would simplify its lens lineup, and actually build those promised new lenses, maybe people would start believing in k-mount's having a future.
There are too many overlapping focal lenghts. Not a single prime in the 24-28 range (the 24 would be the equivalent to the 35mm "street" lens of the film days, and the 28, the APS-C version of the "43 Limited").

Also, variable aperture zooms like the 18-135 or the 20-40, are just a LAZY aproach. Come on... everyone builds a 18-55 f3.5-5.6. Even Sony's kit lens has a metal mount and silent autofocus... My "SMC 28-105 f3.2-4.5 AL IF" is actually more compact than the various "18-55 DA/L/WR"!

So, I'm really hoping that the planned "DA Zoom ~18-85" really is at least constant f4, better still, a 2.8, why not? The DA*16-50 also need a replacement, anyway.

They should clear their inventory through massive discounts, and start building a cohesive and serious line-up . No more "limited Limiteds", no more plastic-mount-DA-L's. Just quality optics at decent prices (just look at Sigma). Ricoh would be selling many more lenses this way, IMHO.

18-70/2.8-4 - I'm afraid it could be witha lot of flaws like all new Pentax zooms...
Did that info come from a trusted source? Will it be released at Photokina?
18-70/2.8-4? Not bad, but I hope it's at least compact, somewhere between the 18-55 and the 18-135, size-wise. I really do not like the form factor of both 16-45 and 17-70 as they're too elongated and narrow. If they also discontinue the 17-70, it's good riddance. And also, big pointy zooms scare everyone whether it's kids in the backyard, friends at a dinner table or the security guards at any given public building...
Interesting. My 17-70 is actually a great lens.
No doubt. I just don't like its size/proportions/exterior design. And the f4 is a bit limited for some situations. I once owned a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 and it was just great. Excellent build, sharp, low distortion, fast and precise focus and only 430 euros (!) bought new from a german online store. Why can't Pentax build such a lens? They should drop the 18-55, 17-70 and 18-135, and make just one decent standard f2.8 zoom. Come on, thei're just being lazy, conservative and trying to protect the sales of the much lucrative but allegedly lackluster *16-50.
Oh no! Someone on the internet is too stupid to remove his battery grip? Pentax is dooooomed!
Oh no! A lens produced for APS-C cameras does not support FF? Pentax is dooooomed!
Oh no! Someone nobody gives a sh#t about switches from Pentax to Sony? Pentax is dooooomed!

C'mon, give Pentax a break, will ya?
