Ricoh Markets the DA16-85mm Lens

Whilst I think this lens is nice for APS-C, it comes just too late and the trend has already been over, frankly. And still, I don't like the red ring. It looks just so odd and ugly, no special character of one's own. Red ring means Canon, it's just too symbolic to be overridden! :-(

Maybe trivial, but the green ring looked better.

This lens makes me think that full frame is a LONG ways off. Hope not, but waiting since 2007 now.

I have been waiting since 2001, when the MZ-S digital prototype was shown, two years before I bought my *ist D back to 2003! :-((

Must be a very nice lens if even a die hard hater of Pentax such as you, says so. :D

About the FF, the coming of 7d2 and Samsung NX1 says, simply that APS-C is not dead. The format is alive and well, and since Samsung starts using BSI CMOS sensor, I believe the gap between FF and APS-C will be closer than ever.

Nowadays the image quality gap between the same resolution FF and APS-C sensors is less than 1.5 stop (DXO's D600 vs A6000). BSI will make it no more than 1 stop (fingers crossed), which is good enough for everyone (Go on, tell me you really need to shoot in ISO 6400 instead of 3200.) And don't get me started on the Depth of Field thingy. Can you honestly get better picture using f1.4 instead of f2.8 (equivalent)? Buy any advanced APS-C camera coming in the last two years and if you still complaint, you are either a snob or a Pro.

Instead of focusing on FF pentax shoud do the following:
- Use samsung BSI CMOS sensor but process it the way they process the K-5 sensors
- More DC motors DA lens
- Improve the X-sync speed.
- Add more accesories
- Mirror less version of the K-S1 without in-body motor made specifically for DC motored lenses, reducing weight and size.

I like a lot that hue of red in the ring, can say that mean Ferrari?! ...
... and I like those colours generated by the coatings, as almost every lens show today.

Have also a good optic this nice lens?
