WILL YOU GET THE K-7 ?
P.S. This is the first time I raise a Poll here at my Blog, please participate! :=)
P.S.2 You will see the Results after making your Vote. Some of you may not be able to see the "Results" button that is adjacent to the "Vote" button. If this is the case, just click on the link in white text above (at the lower right portion of the above poll box).
As soon as i win the lottery, i'll get it. :D
ReplyDeleteIt is $1300 only for the body, just! :->
ReplyDeleteI will definitely get it. Hopefully as soon as it's out, but that's not certain, unfortunatelly :P
ReplyDeleteHello
ReplyDeleteThe last weeks where exciting with all the rumor in your and other people's blogs. It was amazing to see the fantasy to leak information. At the ent, the leaks where too wide an too offensive.
Nope, great camera for what it will do to availability of Pentax gear all around but at 1200 Euro's it is more than twice the price of the K20D which, in its own right, is an awesome machine too!
ReplyDeleteFor me "bang for the buck" always means I upgrade when everybody has moved on, that's the tender pricepoint. At 580 Euro's the K20D is a steal and a huge jump for a mere K100D Super owner like me.
That doesn't say I am not excited about the K-7 because I am!
I will upgrade from my K20D when the Safox system will be really updated from the hardware point of view. K20D is a great camera but the AF is not as good as it should be for a camera in this range. I would eagerly exchange the video function with a really new AF system. So I'll take the K-8 in 2010 .
ReplyDeleteAny selection bias going on with your poll, there? >;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the info. I'm seriously jonesing for a K-7 now.
I will almost certainly buy this camera -- but probably not for a couple of years, when the price has dropped (especially if the noise levels are significantly improved over the K20D).
ReplyDeleteJust bought a wonderful K20D for the unbeliavable low price they're selling now. Will hold on to it until the next camera at least.
ReplyDeleteI'm still shooting with a K10D, so I plan on buying the K-7 pretty quickly, probably right after the first price drop.
ReplyDelete-Dan in San Francisco
I will after I see more shots and movies taken with it at semi-high ISOs, want to see noise levels at 1600 and above and the price will have to fall below $900
ReplyDeleteI like K7 a lot. If the price were under 1000, I would buy it right away. As things are, I am getting a Nikon d90 instead.
ReplyDeleteI have been ogling the new K7 since I first heard about it like many people ogle pornography on the Net. I can't keep away from it. It is truly an object of desire and has grabbed me the same way the LX grabbed me when I bought it back in 1981. I fell in love with irs ergonomics and beauty and functionality back then and am still in love with it. All I wanted was an LX digital and I would have been in 7th heaven (no pun intended - K7th Heaven) so they have managed it in effect.
ReplyDeletePentax have got it just right. Sure it's not as big and 'professional' as some Nikons and Canons but Pentaxians don't need penis-substitutes like the CaNikon brigade to make up for our inadequacies in other areas.
The more I think about this it is actually a perfect PRO camera for all weathers and all situations except for the tiny minority who need something very specifically for sports journalism for example which is actually a very small market.
Pentax have judged this right to be tough, small, light, well specified enough for the huge market of people who want a rugged well built, beautiful camera for their everyday lives that wont mind a few knocks. Forget toys like the Nikon D90 and Canon D500 which have good specs but are plasticky and will fall apart after a few years of use. This K7 will no doubt be around and firing on all cylinders in another 30 years like my LX.
Way to go Pentax.
And if you think about it, the K7 namestyle looks like LX upside down
ReplyDeleteShoot a 30-year old DSLR? Come on!
ReplyDeleteIt was just an expression. Right?
ReplyDeleteI was referring to the build qualty not the technology per se which is one of the reasons I have held off buying a DSLR till now since I felt the technology was a moving feast and too immature, but yes I was trying to make a point.
ReplyDeleteBasically if I could have everything my LX gives me yet be able to output digital files I'd be happy
I said "no" but thats because i'm going to keep the cash in the bank in case a FF comes along, which is what I really want. This camera has improvements on my K20, but I really want to use my FF ultra wide angle lenses for landscape, where many features do not matter, just a low noise large sensor.
ReplyDeletePrice is a bit high for me. I prefer double-A cells rather than proprietary battery. What I have now works for me just fine (K100 Super). But then, a year or two down the road, who knows? ...Grix
ReplyDelete"Sure it's not as big and 'professional' as some Nikons and Canons"
ReplyDeleteYou got that right, it's small and professional:)
I'm still using a GX-10 so I'll look at the GX-30 before making any decisions.
ReplyDeleteI click on "Vote" and...
ReplyDelete"Firefox can't find the server at poll.learnmyself.com."
??
Server was down? Please "try it later"! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I will get it later.
ReplyDeleteI m french. And in France, there are several negative points against a future Pentax purchase:
- The repair center isn't with Pentax France but with a third party PM2S. And the first feedbacks are very very negatives.
If you can read french, please meet the k10dforum website in the sav area.
The set strategy seems to be now refuse the warranty of the Pentax owners by every means.
- The K7 was just released and then the model seems to have several issues. And if the repair center doesn't want help you with any failures about the camera, then it doesn't convince you to buy a further Pentax camera.
- The lenses prices were strongly gone up to some vertiginous peaks.
- The last DA* lenses seems to get some issues : DA* 16-50 f2.8 and issues of right alignment with the DA* 55mm

Bought one and gave it back...
ReplyDeleteWhy? noisy pictures above ISO 400...
Could be happy with 8 Mpixels instead of 14.7 Mp... less noise...?
Rest of K7 is very good.
