Pentax FF? Ricoh: "We Cannot Talk about It" !?

http://www.pentaxforums.com/news/cp-2014-interview-with-pentax-japan.html

Question 18: Does Ricoh Imaging plan to tackle the full-frame / professional DSLR market, and do you see cameras with full-frame sensors as something that would fit into your product lineup? Are you still developing this type of product?

Research and development into full-frame is still ongoing. We cannot talk about it yet.

Ricoh and (Pentax) are to small to can stay at the professionell scene. Nikon and Canon are to strong. Finally the market is saturated yet.

So, I do think Ricoh/Pentax will go ahead with APS-C and the Pentax645D.

Sometimes, it is good to start a hipe.......
I've waited for ages for a FF offering from Pentax sure that I would buy one but now that the day is apparently getting closer I find myself wondering if I would buy one after all. The K-5/K-3 series has been outstanding with such good IQ I'm wondering if I really need the bigger, heavier lenses to lug around. In retrospect I now wonder whether Pentax shouldn't have committed to new aps-c line of lenses to fit an aps-c body with a 28mm register distance with the attendant more compact lenses. Yeah, I know, I know; Pentax didn't have the money to develop a whole suite of new lenses simultaneously.

Ask any high-tech company about new products. You will get the same answer. I guess this is an indication Ricoh and Pentax are still having a strategy. Because not talking about it is strategic.

It is normal Ricoh Pentax didn't say anything about FF during CP+ event. They are preparing the party for the 645D II, and talking about FF will only be ruining it.
Just remember from your old post last year, the FF will not come before 645D, and then the FA limited will be updated with HD coating, and new K road map is just updated with the possible 70-200 mm F/2.8. So.. just wait a little bit longer :)
FF: I don´t want it, so I don´t wait for it.

If I had it to do all over again, I'd buy from a company that gives me the option of upgrading to a FF-DSLR. I wouldn't through good money after bad (D645-II) because it's more for enthusiast than pros, so all in all Pentax is responding as expected now that Ricoh is making them eat the pillow.

Guys; if you want new sensation, don't wait for a FF. I own K5, K3 and Gr. Some times ago, I thought I needed some changes and I bought a Sigma DP-3. Now I can tell you the future is Foveon. I mean you don't need FF for getting IQ. The future is not FF because FF is expensive to produce because of the bigger sensor and will always be . The future is non-bayer cropped sensor. Fuji and Sigma show the way! ;-)

More power, faster and better spec's than D800e, better lookz too, and will be priced at such affordable levels you won't believe it.

Ricoh said they cannot make full frame camera because full frame sensor is too big for move with current SR technology.

By the way, the post of kakaku.com says the SR of K-5 can do 5-Axis In-Body Image Stabilization. http://bbs.kakaku.com/bbs/-/SortID=17226232/#1722...

If it is truth, what Olympus has been said "The World's First* 5-Axis In-Body Image Stabilization" is not truth. http://asia.olympus-imaging.com/products/dslr/em5...
some my comment to the interview:
-Pentax small factor advantage:
Pentax managers please wakeUP. This was advantage before mirrorless. But now there are APCS samsung nx, fujiX with even FASTER/SMALLER lenses (and bodies off course) for even CHEAPER. Plus M4/3 - but with smaller sensor. Who wants small/light system will mostly prefer mirrorless.

-fast lenses:
again see Fujis, Samsungs + M43 lenses are fast/small (+ usually cheaper!!).

I believe the trend is clear: in APSC segment mirrorless (with improving EVF, AF, lens lineup ) will eat DSLR's market share more & more. Dslrs should probably focus on FF like Canon/Nikon where probably mirrorless will not fight so strong.
From these reasons I entered FujiX (I'm more than happy with) I still have Pentax dslr but is almost not used.

-FF Pentax camera:
rumors about FF are here sooo many years, Pentax managers do not want to clearly acknowledge or reject FF plans. If FF will not come at photokina2014 then it will be probably only an never-ending FF dream.

I really do not like the high uncertainity of Pentax future development, Pentax APSC mirrorless line seems like dead, Q is living (but such small sensor for me is not interesting ), FF line is very questionable (maybe only a dream), APSC Dslr market I expect to be be decreasing.

Full Frame is nothing other than Blu Ray for Canikon. It's a fake format designed to get people to "Buy the Beatles again" in another format.

Pentax is wise to sit out what will be an abandoned and expensive fad. Look at what Canikon have to do to sell their full frame cameras. They pack all the best features into the full frame units in order to convince people to buy them. But wait? I thought that full frame was about better images - surely that's the killer feature so why to they need to try so hard to convince people to buy their full frame cameras?

No, Pentax will watch these dinosaur companies spend themselves into nothing. Fact: APS-C is THE DOMINANT sensor format. Pentax has one single offering allowing for efficient manufacturing and not supporting all sorts of formats. Second Fact: Um...actually that was it.

:)
FF is film size, none of you pokemon know what marketing is?
