SONY did a great job in miniaturizing the 135 format Camera. Couple that to relatively low prices, the A7 series deserves success.

But the camera has a lot of problems.
What is the main idea of comparision of different cameras of different systems?

D800E, 7R and 645D all have comparable pixel counts in about 40M. 5D3, D800E, A7R and actually also the 645D have comparable sensor size. The 645D is only 1.27X larger in physical dimensions.
I don't see logic.
Throw a Nokia 1050 in, as it has comparable pixel count as well and is the smallest of te bunch! (perfect by your logic, isn't it?)
I like my A7R. But the size of it without a grip is too small for me and found I needed the grip to really get a grip. For me It balances better with the grip. I needed one on the k5 also.
Get a Grip
To tell you the truth. it doesn't matter what the body is if it doesn't have lens support, and the E-Mount has not been natively supported. Maybe that will change as the FF mounts continue, but under the NEX banner, the lens selection is not that great.

And having to buy an adapter to use lenses in other mounts defeats the purpose of the small form factor mirror less was suppose to bring.

Meanwhile, I am really looking forward to seeing what the 645DII brings - I doubt I would buy one, but if they keep the same price, or go lower, and add 4K functionality - even if they have a 30 min buffer limit - that could be a big winner. If they could drop the price under $6K, well then that would probably have a run against the newly announced GH4 and Black Magic 4K cameras......
Look from the top and you will see the big difference!~
Well, obviously, it is a larger sensor camera... but the total mass is about the same (140g is no difference).
I like how ricehigh says 645 sensor is "only" 1.3x bigger than full frame. Is the full frame "only" 1.5x bigger than APS-C, then?;-)

It is 1.27X and 1.54X respectively, to be exact.
The APS-C varies in exact crop factor, not even every Sony sensor was of the same proportions, not mentioning Canon:)

Most of us use the diagonal measurement (not the area), so as an engineer I can tell you 1.3 & 1.5 are approximately correct. Perhaps your not using the Industry approved math.

As a ceramic purification engineer I agree you are "approximately" correct in your analysis.
Is 'ceramic purification' just a fancy name for toilet cleaning?

If you're going to go to a larger format, then the 645 and the like are the way to go. A middle step between the market dominant APS-C and professional grade medium format is a manufactured product category. This is why Pentax will come to dominate in years ahead as Canikon march over a cliff in attempt to get people to upgrade to their version of Blu Ray: full frame.
