Well, pentax IS for SLRs. It contains part of the word "pentaprism". It was said a long time ago, that basic compacts will be rebranded to Ricoh. I donť see a problem, you had quite a long time ago to be prepared for that horrid moment, when PENTAX name dissapears from low-end compacts.
Theze WG compact cameras Ricoh sells a lot in their B2B operationz. To science, construction, doctorz, dentists, so on. They are selling them more to industry and businessez than to end customerz.
Let's talk about real photography toolz instead. The 645DII ... when it's going to be announced? Any info Rice? Some murmurz say it will be announced any day now ... maybe even today.

I think that Ricoh is doing an excellent job of bringing Pentax to its former glory. The K-3 is a great DSLR, actually the best cropped sensor DSLR, bar none. They now give the rear extender that has been promised years ago.Go Ricoh! You put too much emphasis on a name. Here in the US, if you are a Ford fan, there are many different brands that Ford support, i.e. Ford F-150, Lincoln, Mercury, Fiesta, etc etc. Ricoh can rename the Pentax cameras whatever they want to, As long as they keep making them in the Pentax way, I'm good with that.
The Pentax name will eventually go off of everything. In one year, two, or five. It may take awhile but it will happen. Maybe it will still say Pentax somewhere on Ricoh's SLR bodies but it wont be on the pentaprism. They've already compared the Pentax name to Lumix. Anyone who doesn't see the writing on the wall is either not paying attention or is blinded by their wishful thinking. You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows fanboys.

Martin said Pentax's challenge for 2014 is to pull consumers away from buying a Canon, Nikon or Sony camera.
