Official Information of the "New" HD DA 1.4X Teleconverter

http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/japan/products/lens/k/converter/lc-1_4x-aw/

The official on-sales date in the Japanese home-market will be March 7th. A full list of compatible Pentax K-mount digial lenses is provided, note that not every DA lens of Pentax/Ricoh is compatible.

Besides, it does look very familiar for its appearance specs including the physical parameters, many things are just too close to my ancient "Tamron" Pz (Power Zoom) TC 1.4X Model MC-4 that I purchased 14 years ago, which is yet believed to be original manufactured by Kenko!

For more information of the Tamron 1.4X MC4, look here:

Well, even the lens release lever looks exactly the same, what a "co-incidence"! :-o ;-)

But I just wonder, why it takes so long for Pentax to release such an OEM product, if it really is, which has been delayed for so many years since it was first announced back to 2008!?!

Nonetheless, my prolonged experience for that adapter is that it is great for APS-C cropped image circle but is just fair to rather mediocre optically when it works with Full Frame, no matter film or digial. Enough said! :-(

BTW, for real photo samples for how the "Tamron" 1.4X MC4 performs optically, here you will find some samples of mine:

Zomg, those pentax lenses look like canon lenses : tube with glass, they must totaly be rebadged stuff!
Rice, you discovered a conspiracy, again! You are Fox Mulder of Pentaxian's world!
You absolutely right: both converters used 7 external contacts and two inside the mount. And all the contacts are exactly in the same position in Pentax and Tamron!!! Well, AF motor screw is identical, both construction are circular and dark in color. So, if you cool down a little and take a look again you might realize that lens release lever is different in shape but only slightly - anyway position of it in both converters are precisely the same!!!
Well, you right - Ricoh should be more original and built a triangle-shape converter with 27 contacts and no glass at all... This is only way to be sure that Rice will accept a product...
If you look closely the lens release isn't the same part, so I call BS. Of course tests will tell how it actually performs.

If I didn't like them rebadging 3rd. party gear I never would have bought a Pentax DSLR. I just hope they come up with a convertor to make Pentax lenses work on Nikon, Canon, or Sony, so those who claim they must have auto-focus will be free to spend their money as they wish!
Show a photo of that TC mount to an A7R and there would be 50 comment instead of 5. There just isn't much interest in Pentax. Their customer base has dwindled way.

£400 for a teleconverter is ridiculous. I just spent £479 for a Fuji X-M1 which has a better sensor than my K3, including a 16-50 and a 50-230 lens.

I have decided that Ricoh/Pentax are bonkers. I will use all my Pentax glass on my Fuji. If Pentax come out with a FF in the summer then great, otherwise thats it for me.

It's about $100 more than Canon & Nikon ones and about $50 more than for the Sony which are in stores for quite a while. Not that bad at all - the price will drop in couple of months.
