How's it compare to pentax K3?

Worse in performance.
A worse buffer. Is that the end of the world though? Also batteries, but with the grip you could shoot for a long time. I rarely drain the batteries on my K-3 with the grip as it is. Also shutter speed and framerate. But the ISO goes to 1 gazillion! ;)

It looks like a nice enough camera for the most part. Better IQ and AF alone would be an upgrade. I think it will do ok. The flagship is supposedly still coming. Don't give up hope yet.
There is only one card slot and even HDMI out is omitted.
Well yes, I don't think this is supposed to be a pro level replacement. I can forgive them for the single card slot since they obviously had to make things as small as possible. I think it does still have hdmi out though you need an adapter to get that because it uses a single port for a lot of things. If you want to nitpick it has USB2 as well. I rarely use the camera to transfer from cards and even so the k-3 barely does more than usb2 speeds anyways so it really matters not. I never have ever used the hdmi out, but I guess it could be useful for someone, somewhere. I can't see these being used for video much, so having a feed to a monitor is probably not really something people care about. This is an odd entry from pentax for sure. If the IQ is good I think a lot can be forgiven as long as it is not looked at as a direct k-3 replacement. It actually looks like a really nice small camera for day to day shooting. Do you go out and take 1000 images in a day typically? I usually get nowhere near that. I easily take 2x that when I am working an event though. In that situation this camera wouldn't be as ideal.
The lack of dedicated buttons for AF and AE lock bother me the most, but maybe you can assign a custom button to lock. That would be at least some sort of solution. I use AE lock quite often.
The built-in flash only has a GN of 6m at ISO100, which is a joke! :-(
Yeah its not great. I so rarely use the on board flash though for anything other than a trigger and when i do its pretty close to the subject.
Why do you think the GN for ISO100 is important with a camera that easily (!) goes to ISO6400 and even far beyond? To me this looks like a camera made for the night :-)
I have a K500 that I have used for three years now. Suddenly if I shoot in auto mode the light metering is way off either way over exposed or very dark. If I toggle between auto and scene I can get it to correct but then it randomly will happen again. Do you think the light metering has worn out in the camera ?
