Probably, this is just a Q7 with an original Q shell in a different painted dress, i.e., a 1/1.7" sensor inside. As an original Q user, I am sure that I will not buy one. The colour game of Pentax and Ricoh is just a history for me and I am sure I shall not buy a new Pentax camera anymore for the sake of its colour and appearance, unless Ricoh yet produces something real in the future, which they have not done that for long! >:(

But what does the expensive and unattainable (to me) 645Z have to do with the puny little gold toy pictured above?

Embarrassingly that small portion of negative thinking is very known to me, as well. how I would LOVE to use something like the 645 (make that a "D" or a "Z", up to you)!
Is there something wrong with selling working pros and wealthy men an alternative to what's out there, a camera that actually gets prais for being "the right size" for many a photographic opportunity?
I do not believe it is wrong. Some day - maybe I will have the pleasure of actually using a 645 of my own. Until then...
...speaking of formats: Pentax should finally consider putting out a "mirrorless" camera on their own and/or offering lens-adapters to (a / multiple) select systems that make the electronics work. Now that third-Party lenses of real worth are starting to appear that are specifically designed for smaller flange-distances than any K-Mount camera can handle - it starts to make sense to embrace that market.
AND keep it APS-C (or make that round/quadratic-sized-sensors with 24mm side-stretch) -- so that Pentax' own lenses of today keep their place and value. Would be a shame for those delicious limited-pancakes with their soft-yet-rigid metal feel to get left behind.
In other words: Keeping compatibility WHILE embracing modern technology (in the sense of now-usable EVFs and realtime-imaging-pipelines) would be a sign of reassurance to consumers.
BUT still - "Q" needs a *tough* camera-body with a built-in viewfinder. As much as their aforementioned/dreamed first APS-C mirrorless.

I am tempted to give this one another try.
The time of "breakthroughs" is over across the industry - not just at Pentax.
A few new lenses would be nice though.
The Q-series could use a long tele for instance.
