So, how is the new Prime M engine compared to the old Prime II? Should it be better or could it actually be just worse? I blog, you decide!

I've seen another test and the K-01 indeed has better, more detailed, and sharper photos than the k5. The new image engine is really really good.
I've seen a test of the K-3, it take better photo than 5D MKIII, the image engine is really really good.

oh wait... let me see where was my reference...

that's my point...who knows what is true anymore.
point-1
cost down of filter.
of cause faster engine needs.

point-2
Speedup of the distortion revision.

over all, same as CPU of PC......
The phase detect AF of the K-5 is almost never accurate, while the contrast detect AF used in MILCs is usually much more accurate. So I think that at least in that respect the K-01 has a possibility of providing better IQ.

The phase detect AF of a properly working K-5 is very accurate, at least in good and OK light. I don't know if you tried a K-5 yourself, but if you did you're either talking about the tungsten issue, or that camera or lens were defective.
Tried a K-5? I own one.
So do I.
Maybe yours is defective?
Pentax is legendary amongst professional photographers who haven't been brainwashed by the bigger company is better follow-the-herd mentality, their prime lenses are sought after and well known to be a niche for those with demanding IQ needs. To suggest that Pentax would voluntarily step backwards in image processing quality to sabotage their business is an interesting assertion. Any evidence for it?
