DPR K-01 Full Review is Out

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentax-k-01/

Some of their conclusions are well expected. Who needed to run through a full lab test procedures to know that it is the biggest mirrorless body on Earth? Btw, do we still need more reviews to explain the K-01 sales downunder?

There is no ISO 25600 test shot results? Interesting!?.
It's definitely not the biggest mirrorless on Earth. And it's smaller than any DSLR.
But don't let facts stand in your way!

I am curious, what other mirrorless are bigger?
Ying, just leave him alone. He just couldn't face those facts as he has stated himself!
Ricey, when did I ever stated I can't face facts? Can't you read English?
The fact is K-01 not being the biggest mirrorless body on Earth. Have you corrected your blog entry, since that would be the honest way to do? No? Will you, ever?
Judging by your track record, it's you who won't let facts stand in your Pentax-bashing way.
Fujifilm X-Pro1. Several Panasonic EVF models. And there are many other that are close.
We live in a 3-dimensional world; thickness is not the only thing that matters. Even more so, when you'd use ultra-thin lenses with thick cameras and long lenses with thin ones.
The main drawback is the autofocus. If K01 can deliver fast autofocus for any light conditions, I think it will sell good. Nevertheless, photography is all about ISO and autofocus system, but autofocus is much more important for the mirrorless.

not really this camera is built for maual lens use with the focus peaking. I've seen the camera in use on youtube and the AF works good. Nikon is not perfect trust me. Not a day goes by that I don't miss shots because the d90 starts hunting and the lens motors are very slow in low light. This is an everyday thing now and something I did not expeirece with the d70. I really think its the 18-105 lens its a nice range but the way its built is cheap cheap cheap.
To me it seems like Nikon looks good on the outside but the cameras are not built like Pentax Cameras.
though they do have a nice AF system.
If the camera is build for manual focus, then Nex are superior. They have focus peaking and they can adapt all lenses, including K-mount lenses and rangefinder lenses (plus Canon, Nikon, Sony). K01 can only use K-mount lenses for manual focusing.
The K-01 also have focus peaking.
When your lens range has about 8 lenses, being able to adapt others is a must. I wouldn't call that being "superior".
Nex is smaller and harder to hold with bigger lenses. Its find with the small zooms made by sony but trying sticking a big lens and its really hard to hold and this is where the k-01 excells.

If you really want a camera that can adapt anything then get the pentax Q
I was talking about the KO1 sales. To my opinion, the size, the look, and the construction can be good or bad depend on the personal choice. Only if the AF is outstanding, comparable to the Nikon J1 or OMD5, maybe K01 will sell good.

It is true that NEX is ergonomically worse than KO1, but the sales tell something different. Not to mention Pentax Q compares to other mirrorlesses. This is serious problem for Pentax. I have a feeling, mirrorless will outsell prosumer APSC camera in the near future. K30 was a good move, but releasing any cheaper and lower features APSC than K30 is a suicide.
"...to know that it is the biggest mirrorless body on Earth? "
K-01 is nasty but ... you forget that there is a $ 16k Canon EOS C300 ...
Unfortunately the K01 has become the Edsel of modern cameras. People will collect them later, though.
Okay Jeff, I have to admit that is a great analogy. Consumer Reports ( I know their reviews are questionable) gave the K-01 a 53, the lowest rating I have ever seen from them for an SLR or SLR like camera. It is bottom of the barrel in their eyes. The image quality was considered only average due to soft low light results. Wow, very disconcerting to say the least. The K30 looks promising, but I am not sure if I trust Pentax anymore to produce decent products. Now Canon is coming out with a pancake and Nikon is coming out with a cheap full frame. What is left for Pentax? Their niches are starting to disappear.
