Improved DIY SDM Repair Method!

Actually, the method is more or less the same as the original DIY method but now the "CRC" Contact Cleaner is applied in addition (and then doing the massage) which does help even more, as it is told and confirmed.

After all, the OP has saved $250 (1500 RMB) repair fee as officially quoted and now his DA*16-50's SDM is revived and has been operating smooth and flawlessly! Congrats, man and well done! :-D

by the way, the gear is metal now. it was plastic before.

The gears were made of metal on day one.
I saw plastic.
all we need to know now is how to permantly adjust each lens directly, and not by the body adjust.
He should change the SDM unit, in my opinion and experience a bad hypersonic motor can't be repaired.
can anyone tell me how to loosen up the zoom friction on the 16-50 SDM lens? I fixed the auto-focus with this procedure. However the 50-135 zoom is much easier to zoom in comparison. Send email to stefanostech@gmail.com

Zoom creeping is something that the user can do nothing to repair, as it involves parts worn out.
