Some lovely Pentax glass. The Km and Lenses look pretty good.

BTW, what is the lens in the last photo?

Ha! Pentax FANBOYS BASH YOU & YET RICEHIGH likely has a far nicer system of lenses then they have! That last lens is obviously FA 85mm 1.4.

How concerned with IQ can you really be if you have filters on your glass to protect your front lens? I hope you at least color matched the coatings man... this is lame =(

  5. Yes, the last lens is the FA* 85/1.4.

And, I chose one lens for each representative colour, namely, olive, black, silver, white and silver white.

The use of filters to protect lenses has been discussed since I used Spotmatics, and likely before that. This is mostly a "collector thing" for valuable vintage lenses, and of course filters can be easily removed on those lenses for the day's use. There's page after page of discussions on Google. Original caps are the best answer for storage, as well as silica gel and original cases - but those can get expensive on EBay.

There are protective filters from HOYA (of all places) designed specifically for performance lenses.

The HOYA PRO1 Digital Protector Filter is the ultimate in clear filters. It will not affect the color balance or performance of your lenses in the slightest. However, constant use will protect your valued lenses from expensive front element damage which could be caused by dirt, knocks or scratches.

If you want black and white combined (zebra) you can use a nice vintage Zeiss.

(I have the 180mm f/2.8 Sonnar in P6 mount, and the smi-auto zebra adapter to M42. The spring pressure on that adapter is weaker than the later all-black semi-auto adapter, which has become near-impossible to find)

    Referencing a wonderful site:

Terrific collection of vintage M42 - this page shows the Jupiter-6 in chrome, which is a Russian copy of the Zeiss Sonnar 180mm, a world-class lens for bokeh. Look at his images taken with his lenses on each of the links. ALL HAND HELD WITH NO STABILIZATION.

The Sonnar 200mm f/2.8, generally not regarded as highly as the 180mm:

I have a Helios-40 f/1.5 in chrome, and he has the black 40-2 - as he indicates, pricing has gone nuts. This is an extremely heavy lens with tiny DOF at f/1.5 for portraits, and even on tripod if the subject breathes, you can slip out of focus.

The Jupiter-9 85mm f/2.0 has been in production for decades, can be bought new, and is a copy of the equivalent Sonnar (which I own in M-39 Zenit mount, as well as for my Kiev-10's in Automat mount. This is a killer lens at f/8.0, and has a preset ring for use on a DSLR instead of the A/M switch.

  9. I use the B+W MRC and Heliopan which I am afraid are even better! :-) (also use the Hoya/Kenko Pro One as well)

Do you make pictures only of cameras? The set of lenses is a bit two expensive to be used for testing purposes only. BTW, I think, the white version of K-m looks cooler.

Btw, boy, are you just too jealous of me for having some exotic Pentax glass??

Ah, the Star Wars Imperial Stormtrooper Edition. I always felt that Lucas should have collected royalties on that; and a deal should have been cut with McDonalds for a discount on vanilla shakes.

I'm still getting my mind around "K10D Power User". What would that make the D300 owner with 51 AF points?

Your Canon 5D underexposed the last shot. Guess it's not perfect huh...

LOL you could ask where the D300 owner has his 51 AF points but I guess you mean the camera body =P

But I guess whether or not he is a power user depends on the amount of pictures he takes and how well he has done his RTFM so I somewhat fail the sense in your statement.

fail to see the sense that is...

That thing looks ugly no matter what the lens. Were you to slow to grab a chique white one?

What do you mean by ugly? I'm already thinking about if it is possible to repaint my Pentax. That matte olive paintjob is just brilliant, though I would rather leave out the orange bits. I want that paint on a car too.
