Yes )
I don't know what it is with people comparing JPG NR between systems but... such things really shows the technical limitations of the reviewers.
That being said, the original article is full of fail(front to back). Given the lens and setting differences and camera JPG capabilities(poor or limited demosaic). And we can confirm this by downloading the nominal sensitivity RAW files from DPReviews studio scene comparison tool and get a much better idea of the differences between both systems(night and day).

We hear you MrBig... and i do assume that you know the capability of RAW and its technical aspects.

But look... not all reviews have to be that technical ya?

Afterall this is not the typical "dpreviews" webby whereby we know and go to - for our anal pixel peeping or technical research(es) of the camera/lens.

Probably one day the manufacturer (esp. Pentax) might do away with JPG, since it's so "useless"...

Why don't we take it from another perspective of viewing this comparison as to their respective JPG engines and capabilities? afterall, it is still a manufacturer's development?
Correction... It isn't the reviewer who's at fault in this case. But rather, the person trying to (mis)use the review to generate arguments based on sensor gains. But enough about that... why not just let the data speak for itself?

Pentax K-5 @ 16MP: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews_data/pentax_k5/bo...
Nikon D3200 @ 24MP: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews_data/nikon_d3200/...

Obviously, the difference are night and day. And a far cry from the nature of the title of this post.

PS. there is no good whatsoever in seeking attention through instigation(poor arguments). Which is precisely what RH does with his blog. And I believe the proper term applied here is what is called "trolling".
Reviewer is stupid (100% crop of 24 and 16Mp? You cannot compare them unless you suggest proper formula for that. So, 24Mp should be downscaled or 16Mp upscaled to perform pixel to pixel comparison). Your naive "comparison" is pointless too, the only thing I can state from it the D3200 definitely has higher resolution. Colors seem dull, but it's only matter of right profile. But based on DXO measurements I assume the Nikon has deeper tonality as well.
Interesting to see how both test photos compare so closely in terms of colour response. Nikon and Pentax Jpegs are now so similar at default settings.
Impresive how much dust have acumulated on that set, jut look at the bottles! lol
The dust particles are intended for testing the resolution of the cameras! ;-)
