Pentax Q Won the Japanese BCN Sales Chart Last Week!

(For the Interchangeable Lens Cameras, in Japanese)

Yes, it has got the Number One! Wow, what an achievement of Pentax ever! I am now considering to get one myself, also for the Q prime kit of the white body! :-) Well, for that price, I've almost forgot about the super small sensor size of the Q, and that "non-sense"! ;-D Lol..

Rice,
in the end, you are all emotions, right? No analytics. You purchase cameras because of the color of the body, because other people buy it too. You like Pentax when they are successful, you hate them when they are not (but need support by Pentaxians to grow).
BTW, the Q is great - just not for people who own and use to carry their K-5.

So Rice is a human being not an analytical computer-type like you.
You've overlooked the main reason for why so many people consider to buy the Q now than several months ago.
I own and carry and use a K-5 AND a Q. Different cameras, each excellent in their own way.
i use and carry my k-5, but for every situation when i don't, i'm sooooglad that i have that Q !!!!

There are better solutions to carry around all the time... But still, Q is a nice toy.
Q is too small.
An RX100 fits in my trouser pocket; a Q doesn't.

Also the RX100 will give better results in 95% of situations. That's why I bought my wife the RX100.

It doesn't stop me wanting to buy a Q though!

And because the Q is cute, I bought one for my girlfriend. Not to mention the simple, ease to use and out of the way interface. Not to mention the filters. It is exactly what my girl likes and needs a solid camera for her upcoming volunteer work in Nepal.

PS: All Q needs is a decent wide angle and macro lens.
Coincidently, I am also considering the RX100 and the old Q prime kit, but I shall choose either only one of them.
For me it was easy decision. AU$190 for Q with Prime lens or RX100 for $700. It's 2 very different cameras in different price range.
But in HK the difference is not that big at this moment.
You can buy from the US and save a lot. I am now the happy owner of a DA 50-135 and I am extremely pleased with it. You are welcome to test it if you haven't before.

As for Q vs RX100... well, unless you need long there is sadly not much competition. For anyone that can afford it, the RX100 is a 3-year-old DSLR in a compact body. Olympus and Panasonic try to get close with aperture, but they can't.

Sony are brave and disruptive; a NEX-5/6/7 with a kit lens can barely keep up with the RX100.

There is no doubting the Q is fun though. Good for Pentax!
