DPR Studio Shot Comparison for K-5II and IIs is Out

Click here for the DPR comparison tool page.

Just feel free to drag on the crop selection window and measurbate endlessly by yourself, for different parts of the sample pictures of different cameras which you want to compare with.

Obviously, false colours and moires are major issues of the IIs' sample. Btw, the per pixel sharpness of the IIs is better than the II but it doesn't hold true for the per pixel smoothness, at the same time. So, everything is just a compromise afterall, between the II and IIs, with and without an AA filter.

As for other cameras which are having 50% more pixel counts, e.g., the 5D3 and D600 Full Frame bodies, of course we can get the best of both worlds, i.e., higher resolution without any false colours and moires!

It is also interesting the k-5 II (not s) vs k-30!
What is Your opinion?

From the DPR test image, the K-30 also produces some colour moires.
Yes, there is moire and the Raw performance is not the same neither, K-5 II is visibly better.
It is interesting, because the sensor is the same phisically

But the filters in front of the sensor are different and that affects a lot of things.
And it seems it affects to positive direction! It is good to know that this sensor still haven't reached its limit and they developed somehow!
Interesting, on small globe on the top of samples, word "zambia" is a bit sharper on K-5 II than on K-5, it seams that II have weaker AA

I found that the early batch of K-5 has a stronger AA filter, too.
In JPEG I00, the K-01 looks even sharper than the K-5 IIs
Guys just put a K-x in comparision...I had the K-x and i feel that the quality is almost aproapiately to K-5 IIs

No, the k-x is soundly beaten by the k-5 in terms of resolution and high iso noise. However, amongs 10~14MP sensors it is still right up there.

Just compare noise in RAW-s shoot with K-5 and K-5 IIs on 6400 ISO. K-5 II s is clearly better. I would say the same about dynamic range on ISO 100, but the difference is not that obvious.
I see moire on 5D III as well. What is per pixel smoothness?
Who cares about moire? You can remove it with just a couple of clicks in Lightroom: http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r25/jaad75/moi...

Maybe - at twice the price.

Price is not a real issue when one could pay and get something different.
