Here is the latest shootout lab measurebation by Falk Lumo (aka Falconeye), which I think is scientific, of good quality and higher level standard. Go read, inspect and measurbate yourself and the results (and conclusion(s) drawn up as well) may surprise you!

Yet, there is another comparison made between the K-x and K-7, by the "Pentax is Death" guy (aka Ogl). Full size sample photos are posted.

I think both guys have done an objective enough tests and the results obtained are of certain good reference values. I won't write further here about my observations and comments and would just let you go figure out yourself and make your own judgement!

All that comparison is *ONLY* in therm of absolute noise levels in pure flat area of color (in this case GRAY).
But how about detail?
I'm looked at pictures of K-x in high ISO in REAL world shooting, and I am not impressed. Not noise at all, true, but no detail also. Whole pictures, especially at 3200 and more, are virtually flatten piece of water-color painting. Just very high contrast lines are good visible, but not any small details. That's is very sad for me....
Personally, I think - the noise can be reduced AFTER ALL. Put extra details in flat picture can't....

But I don't know about the Russian site and I also don't read Russian.
Though at least the guy can expose shots better than some of the other of rice's links.
Nothing speaks garbage quite like seeing a photo that is 50% noise and then blaming the camera as has been the case so far.

Let's face it, JPEG noise is not the best in the K-7, but people buying such a camera are much more likely to shoot RAW anyways. I have a K-7 myself and, using Capture One Pro 4, the noise and detail levels can rival both the D300 and the 50D. And with settings like 0 luminance noise reduction and 50 chroma noise reduction on the sliders, the level of detail otfen exceeds that of the Nikon and Canon APS-C flagships (7D exceluded, as I have yet to compare with that new excellent DSLR).
