The SDM problems occurred mostly in the early design, such as 16-50 and 50-135.
Very few, almost none in 55mm, 60-250mm.
I assume they already solve it. For broken SDM, I saw Pentax are giving replacements (within warranty period).

Not exactly. Every SDM lens is prone to failure as reported. The early designed DA* lenses are just even more prone to failure than others. Just see that SDM petition online and all those failure reports from users:-

Well, this is great news! This may be really unique lens without equivalent in another systems. Range and aperture is really impressive. Maybe that's the way Pentax should follow in next years? That would make them more exceptional among others.

My only concern is AF speed. This lens could be used for aviation photography but only if AF is really fast. We all know that - so far - SDM has only one advantage: lack of noise during focusing. Some users are reporting that even DC motor seems to be faster.

Until Pentax does not implement their own real ring motor - we can forget about quick AF. By quick I mean fast as - for example - Canon 100-400.
