More K-r Colour Matching..

The Pentax sole agent of Taiwan is now offering (charged) grip replacement service for K-r users at Taiwan.. (Subsequent to what Hoya Japan offered grip replacement service for the K-x for Japanese users previously. Similar free service was also offered as part of the K-x promotion campaign in which limited grip colours can be chosen in specific purchasing period, once in Hong Kong, too.)

Very pretty! I wish Pentax would offered this service worldwide. Sometimes, Japnese companies can be quite 'inward' looking in their strategies...

Being a creative and different may look good in boosting sales of DSLR but headache for dealers if something goes wrong and need a replacement. That would be more difficult in overseas and could end up loosing business if the responses are not satisfactory. I think that's why They (Hoya) are inward in strategies.

In this day of global commerce, if there is a will, there is a solution.

The problem is that the (Pentax) operation is too small on a global scale and the parent company is not willing to dedicate enough resource to grow it in such a way.

A more pro-active company may see this as an oppotunity rather than a hiderance.

I have to say Hoya feels like very old fashioed in their management style...
