First Looks of the Q7 and K-500 at EPhotoZine

Q7: http://www.ephotozine.com/article/pentax-q7-hands-on-preview-22178

K-500: http://www.ephotozine.com/article/pentax-k-500-dslr-hands-on-preview-22177

The K-500 preview reminds me of how Pentax could make "two" new camera"s" by just: One bundled with a lithium battery and then the other with an AA battery holder plus without the installation of the weather sealed rubbers at the factory, that's it! >:-o

So what ?
WR is a pretty nice feature to ad for just 100$...
It's a clever way to make money for Pentax, and i just don't understand why it makes you angry.

I am not angry, but just frustrated and of course desperate. I am sure that many Pentaxians wished Pentax to make better things and upkeep with more updated features with variety. I believe that I am not alone.
How much is the foam strip ? Does the absence of the weather sealing have really a impact on the price ? ;)
Pentax, did you hear something about WLAN and GPS ? Couldn't you spend like a few bucks on these parts and put it in your "new" camera ?
Touch screen ? HDMI ? Mic input ?

you do not seem to realize with the k-5 and the k-30 you can get gps and wifi and ons..so you have it all.
it is nice to have more afford option. as like not everyone need wr.

just like kx. kr user. they just want a color cheap dslr.

like k-01, some people just need a good sensor that take good picture, and willing to give up other features like handling, viewfinder for better price
How about Nikon and Canon, they have dosens of (basicly) same kind of product at the same time on the market.

Some companies offer WIFI, some offer GPS, some offer 24MP, some offer articulated LCDs, some offer touch screens, some offer WR, some offer Pentaprism, some offer In body Stabilisation, some offer in body screw drive fofus motor, some offer AA batteries option, some offer super small size.

At the price points of the K-5/K-50 you can not have it all, you have to choose. These are not for deep pocketed, FF photography expert such as you, Rice. More like newcomer to serious photography or hobbyist. Truly these new Pentaxes are increasing the variety in their respective market segments.

ane we all wish some offer "ALL IN ONE"
GPS, Wi-Fi don't help you in taking better photos. WR gives you more opportunities.
"the K-500 doesn't feature super-imposed focus confirmation in the viewfinder, insted this feature is found in the Pentax K-50"
What the heck does that mean :O Have they gone back to K-x kind of view where you cannot see the focus points in OVF

RAOTFLMAO; the Pentax K-500 comes with a kit lens in 123 color combinations (nobody could make-up a rumor that dumb), that shows where Richo's head is!!!

I meant to say K-50, the cheaper K-500 ain't got so many colors.
Ricoh don't have a clue about this business, they could have owned the premium compact market yet let everyone else steal the show (GR-D had potential)
2 bodies that should be just one, re-cycled 16mp CMOS sensor yesterday's news.
Big price hikes on lenses

Mix that into the cauldron and tell me what you conjure up? Well it's simple...Ricoh = failure
I really like how they are announcing the 3 year old 16M Sony sensor as "State of Art".

The camera re-packing job done by Pentax Ricoh is really "State of Art"!
Film photographers are using Tri-X for some 70 years already (yes, seventy), and that emulsion is still highly respected. Yet todays instant-Avedons and peewee pixel-peepers cannot live with a couple of years old magnificent sensor? It's too mediocre for their cat and flower shots?
It's a digital product, Moore's law applies here, calling it state of art is PR crap. You know it, just too much of a fanboy to admit it.

State of the art it isn't, but it is still one heck of a sensor, only slightly worse than the 24MP and provides the cheapest DSLRs of pentax line up comparable performance to more expensive DSLRs of other makes. And, it is not fair to call it PR crap, as every other companies I know are doing the same. It is just PR.
If we are talking about the sensor only, Canon has been using 18 MPx sensor since the inception of 550D (around 2010). What make it different then, Canon is really smart introducing new gimmicks, while Pentax still stays with the various colors to attract DSLR consumer.
Who need 100 or more various colors then ?
sony sensor is still state of the art, after 3 years nothing significantly better didn't show up on market and K-5 early batch still can produce images equal to any camera device from any manufacturer , this sony 16mp sensor in digital imaging is equivalent of Roling Stones in music, still going still strong and nothing dramatically better didn't show up to replace it.
