Yes, you're correct Rice.
This time you are right.
There are rumors that all will be cross type really. First pre production K-3 are out. IMO I think these are production already with early firmware.

What? No diagonals? If we're going to dream, why not dream big? ;)

I hope you are right Rice.
Here is likely the original rumor....

Hi there Pentaxians,

I hear there are people who have their hands on K-3s as we speak.

The specs leaked on Photorumors from Sep. 23 appear to be mostly correct: 24MP Sony sensor, new autofocus system with more AF points, no AA filter, some new RGB sensor for either metering or AF not sure which.

Some new tidbits for you to consider tonight:

-New flash system

-The AF sensors are *all* cross sensors

-Tracking AF ! !

-Some new in-camera functions not further specified

-The body is similar to the K5, but something about Ricoh doing something different with the display.

Well that this certainly sounds like Ricoh may indeed be quite serious about expanding the Pentax lineup. Hope the announcement comes beginning of October, not towards the end. There is talk it will be Oct. 8.

I also heard something very specific about FF for next year that I nearly couldn't believe and I'm trying to get confirmed. Will let you know if I do. Also something about pro-level support...wow! 2014 could be a very big year for the brand if this holds water.

Matt

Rumors are running wild now. Also there is a persistent rumor that the camera will somehow use sensor shift and be able to take multiple photos and combine them into a 40MP image. Sounds almost too good to be true. We shall have to wait and see.
Pentax should release a focal reducer with autofocus for the people who have invested in a lot of full frame k mount lenses. PK mount to PK mount adapter 0.75x a bit like the metabones speed booster. This way, we won't have to look for greener pastures for the next few years.

I'm not going to settle for a cheap C-size image sensor so my camera will have a really good EVF, or a big DSLR with a Transparent-Mirror. I'll wait till Samsung comes out their FF-NX that will fit in my coat pocket when I remove the (up-gradable) EVF while leaving a decent Pancake-Lens on it.

I hear as the result of a joint effort between Samsung & Sanyo they will announce a IGZO-IPS-OLED-EVF/remote trigger with a universal mount at Photo-Kina 2014!!!
Very plausible interpretation. One source says 27 points, another source says all cross-type.

If this holds true, Pentax will have a high-density area AF system once and for all... https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-d...

Maybe this is a good time to get in to Pentax. People are dumping their good lenses. Lenses near impossible to get (FA*85f1.4) are now lower priced and available. And the good DA* lenses are reasonably priced (used that is).
