Another HD Limited Lens Review with Samples (K-5IIs and HD DA21)

(in Japanese)

Samples are downsized but yet not too small. Sharpness is good as seen but I am not fond of that cool and purplish colour rendition and tone. It maybe just a K-5IIs issue that is well known and thus nothing can be concluded about the new HD coating and glass regarding this! ;-D

I do not see a proof of improved sharpness in going from SMC to HD. Better flare control is not worth the extra cost for me.
Such a type of pictures don's say much.
DA 21 is not the top of the Pentax list, but in spite of all it is a very nice lens.

The DA21 is a very useful lens amongst the Pentax digital series. I love this lens actually. The HD version doesn't look significantly better, though.
Yes, I agree that it is not significantly better. But I know what amount of effort it costs to achieve this significance.
HD is a step ahead - according me. And this steps are necessary. Let say - they are inevitable.
The other way is the way of Topcon e.g. Or Miranda, or ...
As far as overall sharpness and focal length it is the best lens in my lineup for landscapes. I found it outperformed the 15mm. I just wish Pentax had a lens with this focal length as sharp as the DA 40mm.
For anyone who has not yet a complete collection of Limited lenses, the switch from smc to HD (which I am convinced is just a name change, nothing else) is a perfect opportunity to save money: buy the smc Limiteds for greatly reduced prices. E.g., the silver 43 at B&H for $579. (droool)

Unfortunately, my collection IS complete, and I am not going to buy another copy just to compare, or to keep and sell it on later. (or do I)?
