645D Vs M9 Vs 5D II Vs K-5 Vs K10D Resolution Comparison

For easy comparison, I've direct linked the samples. Note that the 645D samples are cropped 100%, whereas all other are resized to match the same size:-

Set One:-

645D + 75mm

M9 + 50mm Summilux
5D II + 50mm L
K-5 + 35mm FA
K10D + 35mm FA

Set Two: (Test and resizing were re-done for the K-5 and M-9 (only) owing to the poor result of the K-5 above. A guessed reason causing which is the out-focusing of the first K-5 picture.)

M9 + 50mm Summilux
K-5 + 35mm FA

"Kill shoot" from 645D documents the obvious advantage. The Pentax 75mm is a very sharp lens indeed...It also clearly shows, user's technique can render substandard even a best gear on the planet...He should re-do the Canon 5D II + 50mm L as well.. :o)
i think only Klaus form photozone have sharp 50 L, all others says is soft so it can be redoned milion times no mater.
... There's NO WAY IN HELL that I will believe the results of the K10D. This "smearing" and absolutely lack of details looks more like a Photoshop Art-Filter than any straight out of camera JPG from any of my DSLRs, my Compacts or my Bridge Cameras.

Hell, even my Standard Definition Mini-DV Camcorder produces better details!

that's not the native K10D file. remember it's been upsized to the resolution of the 645D (40mp), probably using Genuine Fractals or other upsizing application that tries to "create" detail through algorithms. the increase from 10mp to 40mp is just too great
K-5 looks out of focus compared to the K10D. I think the 5D is a little out of focus as well.
I fail to see the point in a comparison of camera-lens combinations with statistics N=1...2 and shaky photographic technique.
other than that, I wish Rice and all fellow readers a Happy New Year.
Just took a couple very nice pictures with my K-5. Still love it very much. Best photographic investment of my past 5 years.

Actually they reshshoot k5 image, now it is close to other cameras. Those who are doing large format printing and are using Genuine Fractals and other programs often know that upsampling is not straightforward. K5 photo was definitely out of focus or lens was not microadjusted.

CaniKon marketing is in serious trouble with its best resolutions DSLR - now title belongs to Pentax 645D. It is really silly to compare 645D and then try to guess some very bad manufacturing and design faults. 645D is a professional camera every professional is willing to have into his bag soon, there are actually three options here to compare: D3X,A900, future SD1

I hope competition is coming to 645D segment as well.

I am comparing the USD 10K cameras here.

645D has 10 million red sensors, SD1 15 million, 1D MK2 has 5.2 megs, K5 has 5 megs. It all depends what do you shoot.
Strange comparison.
The 645D essentially sharper than 5d mkII and M9 due to the bigger sensor (I mean size, not MP). The M9 is more detailed than Canon because of the lack of AA filter. Both FF cameras has more details than cropped ones. K10D is sharper than K5 since AA filter in the latter is stronger.
