The sensor stains of the D7000 and EOS 1Ds/1D MkIII _are_ (were) caused by spilled lubricant.

Camera would freak out closing shutter and aperture any time you pressed a button. Once the batteries ran down a bit, camera would be fine.
Since battery voltage increases a bit with heat... maybe they are using off-brand batteries that are reacting the same way.

Oh, and prices: Nikon lenses and flashights, (expensive post kit lenses) Canon lenses and flashlights, ( again, expensive post kit lenses), plastic lens mounts and junk sd card doors that inspire little confidence in build quality.
Pentax has the best high iso quality of any brand, with lower noise, better resolution and saturation. But then again, it's not about the picture for some people.
Heat problem with Pentax only? Look around other sites!

I was going to pick up my K5 and lens on a holiday trip to the US next month. I wish Pentax had at least given me some assurance that they are going to fix this problem or at least acknowledged that they were looking into it.
I am going back to my initial list and choose between the Nikon 5100 the Canon D7 or ???
Any ideas?
I really wanted this camera.

I did, and now I am one happy photographer.
Not that I was unhappy before, the K-7 was a good camera as well, as long as you kept the ISO below 1000, or had good denoise software.
