Pentax Forums Now Host Official Canon Ads, Not Pentax Nor Ricoh's! :-o

For instance: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-news-rumors/229588-ricoh-announces-company-name-change-no-more-pentax-ricoh-imaging-just-ricoh-31.html

A click on the Ad Banner will direct you to the Official Canon EOS M Page of your local server! :-o

Btw, they do have to earn a living, don't they? When Ricoh don't pay them well.. This is completely understandable! ;-)

No FF,so loss of users. And creation of competing brand forums. Will NF surpass FM forums?

As I've said, they have to earn a living! But seeing official Canon ads at a "dedicated" Pentax forum is just too ridiculous!
Funny. Those are Google ads, and what they're showing you depends on YOUR web activity. In other words, you're seeing Canon ads because you are spending lots of time on the web looking at Canon products.
But you're blaming Pentax Forums for that... isn't this an EPIC FAIL?
it is a Google Adsense ad, as indicated by the blue triangle thing on the top right corner of the ad box. So it is likely a random computer-selected ad. But all kinds of things feed into Adsense ads, so it's hard to be 100% certain. However, mostly likely it is not a directly placed ad, but selected by the Google Adsense computers based on their secret sauce algorithms.
Thanks for the info, my friend.
PF doesnt host official canon ads. that ad box is google adsense. so ricehigh, you have probably done some internet surfing about canon and especially about eos M in past few days/week, so google adsense algorith served you with eos M banner. thats all. no one from PF can affect this thing.

for example: if i search lot of things about sony nex7, next day or week, i will have nex7 banner here on your website, if you are using google adsense here.

so ... to see canon ad on pentax forum is NOT pf fault. its your "fault"...

I have NOT surfed anything about EOS M in the past few days via Google, or any other search engines!
It doesn't have to be specifically the EOS M, and it doesn't have to be yesterday.
It's your "fault", deal with that instead of blaming others.

They block links to RH and dpreview. surely they can block EOS ads in their adsense config.

I find it dishonest that they don't disclose if the site is non-profit or not. How much do they pay themselves for salary's?

"PentaxForums.com's high server and development costs are user-supported. You can help cover those costs by donating."

If you ask for donations to cover server expenses, be upfront about the profits. Do they reinvest all the profits? Are there profits? Do they pay themselves salaries as an expense?

In 2009, they have threads that say the donations are SPECIFICALLY to avoid having ads. Now the site is plastered with ads.

So are they for-profit? If so, why the begging? If not, how much are they paying themselves? Obviously it's not for the love of the brand if they are expanding with NF, CF and camera enthusiast sites. They want to become a DPR with individual sites for each brand. Which is fine, but be more upfront about these "donations".

They need to be honest about the ads. In 2009, they specifically said that they were getting donations so they would not have ads. Now the site is plastered with ads.

Recent signature from the owner:
"PentaxForums.com's high server and development costs are user-supported. You can help cover those costs by donating."

Is it a non-profit or not? Even non-profit's pay salaries, so how much are they paying themselves? I feel if you donate to a charity/non-profit you have the right to know this. If it is a for profit venture (and seems to be since they are branching out with one forum for each of the camera brands), be honest and upfront about it. How much do user "donations" go to the bottom line? If they are making tons of money, why the constant push for donations?

Be honest about the donations.
