There is an old tale among the active Pentax fans: there is no real Ricoh (Pentax) Full Frame camera yet, because of the Sony Corporation position. The tale tells that Sony does not want to supply the Pentax with a Full Frame sensors. ;)
Anyway, the Ricoh (Pentax) is still working under the FF Camera Project... for years... even without sensor...
The Ricoh (Pentax) is still working - the customers is still waiting: nobody gives up! ;)

Nope, Sony is slow as slouch; Leica M9 was a world's first mirrorless digital FF camera, from 4 years ago.
Btw Rice, Pentax just made a super sized Q, with a mind blowing 1/1.7" sensor. That was exhausting enough and I trust they need a little R&D break now ... :-D

Oh, well yeah, sure the lens is fixed, but there isnt a mirror in it
Really wish Pentax have something brand new to surprise me.

i am french So i hope you understand my english
Pentax don't want introduce yet this market because they have never been for professional users
So they will come with FF when the price of FF camera could be nearly the price of K5IIs
So when you will se a nikon FF at less than 1200 euros then you will get a pentax at the same price
For my case i am waiting to find a second hand 645D at around 2500 euros
I really can't make up my mind whether I want this or not. Full frame does appeal to the gearhead in me, but when I look through my favourite photo's - are there that many where I think "I wish Id had a full frame for that shot?"
Not really, my K5 is a cracking camera, my lens collection covers most of my needs, and when I upgrade to the K3 or whatever, Im sure it will be more camera than I have ability for and can grow into.
Maybe Im so used to ASPC that I have forgotten what Im missing.
Ken Rockwell says "needing full-frame" is a myth. In his view, the only benefits of full frame are the possibility of using legacy lenses and slightly bigger viewfinder. "That's it", he says. For the noise levels, "there isn't any significant difference". "DX cameras already see in the dark", he says. What does he recommend? "Get a D7100. It's awesome. Full frame is just to get a bigger finder and pay more money — and if you want to use old lenses." Of course, this is just one opinion. But I fully agree with it and am a happy user of my APS Pentax K5.

If Pentax/Ricoh wants to conquer the toy market, with small sensor cameras in 256 different colours with some 'cool gadgets' and leave the enthusiast market, they will soon be 'doomed'. Consumers in this segment tend to deceide for phone cameras instead of pocket cameras. this marked will decrease and decrease....
i would have loved to see ricoh make pentax a hiqh quality brand/image in the direction of something like leice, individual, charcter, high quality, creative and last but not least: different! and additionally to leica: a bit more innovation... i think they even tried with the mark newson designed k-01 but it struggled and now the idea is off and they do Q-Stuff... maybe the newson stuff costed too much so now the budget for innovations is quite low now....

If Pentax wanted FF Sensors of any manufacturer they would deliver i think. The manufacturer earns money with every sold sensor...
The bigger point are lenses i think. How many lenses can they develop and produce? They needed a whole new series of lenses, therefore they need manufacuring capacities. And they cant stop producing old ones, cause they are needed. So there is a big risk if the stuff won't be sold....but pentax seems to put more emphasis on the lower end instead of the higher end, and if now bang is coming the next moths we all know what will be the direction.
I stopped investing in pentax, cause first point is that the system limited me, accesories are hard to get, even 3rd party products are getting rare, pentax original stuff must be ordered and is never in stock. Even the used marked of lenses is shrinking in the local store, there were 3 sections, can, nik and other stuff including pentax, sony minolta and olympus, now pentax dissapeared the 'section of others'. Then the system cant grow, if you want to go further, you dont have alternative bodys, and maybe you wont have any body if ricoh lets die the k mount. Sadly.... Just check how much attention pentax gets in blogs and photo news pages. Fuji and olympus get more...pentax is on the way to become a trash brand name. K5(ii) maybe was a last great product, which it really is. Maybe ricoh is more interested in pentax cctv an industrial or medical products...i dont know
