My Deepest Condolence..

..to those innocent Hong Kong hostages who got killed and deeply injured/hurt and those other survivors and relatives who've lost their loves and family members in the violent slaughter case at Manila, Philippines. (A few related news articles on the net can be found here, here, here and here - All in English.)

The people were killed at around 8 pm last evening when I witnessed the tragedy live on my local TV. My heart was broken and I lost my sleep mostly last night. I have been feeling really upset and highly disappointed but at the same time rather shocked and very angry at the precipitancy and complete inability of the Filipino Police as well as the total irresponsibility plus ridiculous bureaucracy and numbness of the Filipino Government.

Let us have a deep silence for those unfortunate people whom originally their lives should not be lost and would us bless for them to rest in peace in the heaven.

I am Filipino and even I agree with what you say. It hurts me that the Filipino image to the world have been tarnished all because of one man.

I think the Ruffian is not the only one to blame. But of course he is the biggest culprit. However, the proud/don't care attitude of the Filipino Authority and the poor handling / unprofessionalism / precipitancy of the Filipino Force are indeed the second culprits behind and the Filipino Government should also bear much of the responsibility of the tragic ending of the case.

And, it looks that the Filipino Government is still rather decayed and corrupted if the story told by the gunman is true.

p.s. I have no gripes about Filipinos and the country. I went to Ceibu/Philippines for travelling once about ten years ago, the Philippines people I met were all nice, honest and helpful.
I don't know if there is hidden hatred or grudges in the Philippines against peoeple from Hong Kong. There must've been a reason for which the hijacker chose a Hong Kong tour bus and allowed the Filipinos on the bus to flee. This question came into my mind after seeing this photo

I can't think of any justification for this kind of disrespect.

It's really silly after all.
Shit! I can forgive those young girls' ignorance, but even those policemen have done the same!

As a Filipino, I am deeply ashamed of what happened. Be assured that the people in power (President Aquino and his people) are good people who have not been tainted with corruption. President Aquino will make sure that this will get solved. Let's just give our authorities time to redeem themselves.

What happened in Manila was not a targeted attack against Chinese people. President Aquino himself is of Chinese lineage, the Mayor of Manila is pure Chinese descent, and almost 30% of Filipinos have Chinese in their blood.

Ricehigh, great blog.
Reader, thanks for giving your comments and I'm glad that you like my Blog.
Believe me I've been to HongKong and found the people very nice, helpful and hospitable. People can be insensitive at times but I don't think what happened was targeted at HongKong people specifically. I can't speak for the Filipino people or for my government but I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the family of those killed in this very unfortunate incident.
What sadden me the most is that a lot of the hostage casualties were avoidable. The sniper had a lot of chance to take out the gunman in the daytime.
When the "SWAT" stormed the bus at night, it took them 1 hr and 20 mins to break into it. but then the gunman had already finished off the hostages one by one...
My deepest sympathy goes to the families of the victims...R.I.P
