it all comes down to how it compares in size, usability & speed compared to other compacts, e.g. Canon S series, Panasonic LX series or Samsung EX (which has an articulated screen too)

I just don't understand why anybody should buy a camera that takes just a bit better photos than a smartphone does.

Why take time to make comments when you have no idea what you are talking about?

It is like the polls where you have "yes", "no" and "no opinion" choices.

All of the "no opinion" choosers are taking time out of their moronic lives to demonstrate that they are clueless.

Well, my opinion is simple. Smartphones produce crappy images. The cameras like the announced one aren't far away from the smartphones. So why should you pay for another equipment if you get almost nothing compared to what you already possess?

In my opinion P&S cameras are obsolete, the built in cameras in mobile phones are becoming better and better.

Yes, I aree that PR should, as some say "Jump Sheap" of P&S cameras but IMO it's a nice piece of junk.

all depend on price, 500 is over priced.
look at Canon S100, Olympus XZ-1, Samsung ZF2, they are all around 350 mark.
If MX1 is around 300, we might have our chance in the market.

Nope!

Another fail from Pentax.

1) overpriced for list of features it offers.

2) no hot shoe, but bulky size like LX7/XZ2/EX2F

3) no optical or electronic viewfinder

4) no wide lens (no 24mm, only 28mm)

Brass body. Hell yes am I interested. But this should be the Q. Better sensor size, better design. And a camera with the MX name should have an interchangeable lens, no?

Pentax o' Pentax... why can't you use the resources to develop something more worthwhile like probably a WR ultrawide DA... instead of another junk ol fun el chic stuff ... which only appeases those fanboys still living in delusion.
