New Firmwares for K-5II/s, K-30, K-01, K-5 and K-r

The new firmware is available for download in the following page:-

http://www.pentax.jp/english/support/download_digital.html

And the changes for the new firmware are as follows:-
  • Optimized contrast AF when using [HD PENTAX-DA 560mmF5.6ED AW] lens.
  • Improved stability for general performance.

Update (2-1) : I have roughly tested the LV AF of my K-5 after updated to the latest firmware and it seems that the AF is faster now and the way the camera is searching for focus is different, i.e., the algorithms have been revised. This is especially obvious for telephoto lenses, for what I have verified with my Pentax 300mm AF prime.

I'm afraid not. Get an Auto Flash with an external sensor will mostly resolve the problem! See:-

I think the firmware is nearly the same and when it is build modular, it is easy to maintain three firmware suites K5 K5-II K5-IIs
and improvements in common parts could be implemented in all.
When are you getting the HD PENTAX-DA 560mmF5.6ED AW?

This lens offers too little for too much. I am almost sure that I shall not buy it.
I think working with flash works much better with new FW.

I'm afraid that this is just a wishful thinking!
You can doubt if you like - I just see what I see. With built-in flash I could't use higher iso the 400 because all was overburned. Now I use iso 1600, f/1.8 plus flash and it works fine. Cooperation K-5 with Sigma EF 530 DG SUPER also looks better (not ideal but better).
I constantly dial in a -0.7EV flash exposure compensation in my K-5 and the problem is resolved mostly.
Yes you can, now I don't have to ;)
I will check and report back.
Yes. Hope you discover bit of the same. The best result I can see with built-in flash.
I should check this out too.

Certainly yesss!:) i Did more tests yesterday and Today. Sigma 1.4 -More precise when using pentaprism and no more hunting in LV contrast mode! Large group Of people confirmed that on Polish pentax forum!
New APS-C cameras, new firmware updates, new flashes ... boring, you know what I mean. :D We (the genuine Pentaxians) are waiting 4 the real thing ;)

Have a nice weekend RH.

We shall not hear real news about the Pentax FF unitl this X'mas! ;->
"The real thing" is under development a prototype already exists says a Tokina employee.
