"New" RP K-mount Lens Roadmap for 2014

Now, those previous 2013 or Later new APS-C DA lenses and the ever vapour/paper-ware 1.4X DA SDM TC would come 2014 or Later!

Btw, I have zero interest in those new lenses, very frankly, even though they would come eventually, maybe in 2015 or later, provided that the Ricoh APS-C K-mount sytsem is not yet death and be aborted by the market!

Who would be dumb enough to buy any of these lenses? The few hundred pentax fanboys left?

This is a perfect example of why Pentax is in the market position it currently is in. That position is right behind all the bent over pentax fan boys

This is another push for any pentax user waiting for a FF to go ahead and purchase a D800.
WAKE UP RICOH, still working on™ ?
Agree your view, Rice

Pentax just wants to be sure that everyone knows that Pentax is in the APSC business not the photography business. Good Luck!

Doubling down on APSC. Not even a hint of a FF camera to come.

I think it is very true that Ricoh/Pentax won't be able to get any more money out of my pocket for any DSLR body upgrade unless it is for a FF body. It is not to say that their APC-S lined up is bad, quite the contrary; it is actually because of it being good which prevents me from upgrading. I have a K5 and a K-01, and I don't see the need to get a K3 or a k5-II. Yes, the new AF system is very tempting; the added resolution is enticing; the user controllable AA filter is innovative. I have nothing but envy to the new K3 and K5-II owners as they really are reaping the best of Pentax at the right time. However, my K5 and K-01 are good enough for me for the foreable future. I am actually quite interested in the DA tele zoom that is coming in 2014. If this lens is also FF compatible, it is a sure winner for me.
All right, anyone knows what will happen to top of the line DA* lenses?
Reworked? Re-issued with a red ring? Left all the same? There are few of them that need some care, though.
Apart from Limiteds that have limited use, those are the lenses that make the Pentax system worthwhile.

The k mount was design for 135mm film cameras it still has the same basic design and optical Engineering, so the kmount is not aps c mount, it can be used for full frame sized sensors. Stop being sensationalist and get over vendetta against pentax move on with you life.

get the d800 with a great sensor but the return level is high due to electronic failures.

BTW pentax last year sales figures improved and Full Frame weaken. Nikon highest selling Dslr was at the d7000 a aps c camera.
The sad news is that I couldn´t find the classic FA 50mm f1.4 on this road map, despite I already have one, leaving the posibiity to get the fastest AF P/R to the fantastic(not cheap) DA* 55mm f1.4. No matter what gearheads say about FA 1.4/50, it´s a great lens with a very creative aura on it. And capable of razor sharp images from f2.5 and above.
100% agree. Pentax should revive the FA 1.4/50 as a Limited.
BTW, bought a K-3 in Beijing while on a business trip. The K-3s had just come in, I was lucky to find that place (Wu Ke Song Camera Shops).
Now I am one happy Pentaxian. The K-3 ergonomics are IMHO better than the K-5, however very easy to learn since they follow very similar rules.
Just took a few pictures so far. Quality is outstanding. First impression, even the AWB and noise level have been improved compared to the K-5. (I do not own the K-5 II). AF is fast and very precise. Fun with a lens like the 70/2.8 or 50/1.4 wide open.

Congrats mate! Thanks for your support to Ricoh until some days later they still survive and produce a Full Frame, hopefully! ;-p
I'll buy the FF too. If Ricoh Pentax wishes to get more money from me, bringing out a FF would be a good idea. Until then, I am happy with the top-of-the-notch APS-C system that they have. (And potentially even happier than I would be with a FF, I don't know)

I got a K-3 and still have my money for a FF-DSLR, and I hope it will be a Ricoh/Pentax in 2014.
Great lenses you mentioned Chris, especially the FA 50mm/1.4 is very underestimated. I'm sure you know how to handle this lens on your new K-3. Congratulations and happy shooting.
B.t.w. do you use Pentax Digital Camera Utility 5? I like to know whether or not there are improvements compared to version 4.40/4.41.
My guess is the new DA lenses are just "HD-upgraded" replacements for the DA 12-24 and 17-70 SDM, hopefully now with DC and WR. As for the "100-400", it's a nice addition (even better if it could have internal focus/zooming and a constant aperture), given that the annouced Tamron 150-600 and the new Sigma 120-300 will not be available in K-mount.
OLD this roadmap was seen on pentaxforums.com two weeks ago.
