645D II is Coming! :-o

As for the sensor, it will not be a CCD one anymore. This is a good news for me, as I may be able to get an old and "useless" 645D I cheaply, to use my old 645 film glasses! :-D

14bit color depth, lens factor, tilt display, lots of DSLRs have that for less than 10 large, and pros laugh at them. If Ricoh digs this hole much deeper evan a FF-DSLR won't help them out of it, I just hope Ricoh gives the K-mount to someone smart, thereby setting me free.

Average PF poster "They can't make a FF camera because they don't have the lens line up".

Meanwhile they release a 645D with just 2 new DFA lenses... And the rest of them are legacy lenses.

I do hope the new 645D will not exeed the 10'000 Dollar!
And I am happy Pentax still lives!
645 is very good indeed. Weathersealed with lenses too! Great device!

Seriously, thats great! I like it. Price will be high but good to see new products, upgrade from 645D.

What would have a high profit margin 645II or Nikon D4? Which camera will have higher sales figures? I know these are different cameras & that’s the point. The answer to these questions will indicate if Pentax is making the right business decisions.

Someone on PetaPixel called this a Soviet Project and I'm inclined to agree. Meaning the Soviet Union had the largest department store but the shelves had no stock.

My understanding is that the lenses for the 645 were cast before Hoya bought Pentax. The glass was taken out of storage and put into cosmetically new mountings meaning that they might as well go through the glass they have warehoused but I can't for the life of me figure out why they aren't going after the sliver of the SLR market that they have rather than working on this "also ran" product.

-- No swappable back. This is an incredible mystery to me.
-- No compact flash
-- USB? No pro-grade connectvity
-- Lots of features at the price point, sure but in Pentax fashion, not one of the features is themselves industry leading. Show me one piece of engineering Pentax does better than anyone else? Sure they pack the camera full of features but the features themselves are usually done better elsewhere.
