According to a latest Japanese IT news report, it is revealed that the Pentax K-r actually had a hidden function of "Photo Challenger" mode which could be activated via an advanced (at its time ;-)) IR data communication mode with another compatible camera,.
After linking up with the other camera, two photos can be selected for comparison and the computer will give marks to the photos in three aspects. The loser will have his photo displayed in a cracked glass window at the end.
It is noted that the registration will soon expire by fall March this year. Hope that this last official "Pentax" website will be kept. Nonetheless, some photos in this website are great and worth a look.
The following is the Official Japanese PPG (Pentax Photo Gallery), it once shown the name of K-3, together with the name of the "K-5 series", for photo submission under the same camera category! :-o
Well, the picture was shortly deleted and reverted back now, where only appears the name K-5 series. However, the leaked picture with the original html code with the name of K-3 are captured! (Good job, man!) It surely is NOT a typo this time as the K-30 also appeared at the same time at the adjacent left, as the other category of Pentax' DSLR cameras!
So, the K-3 must be true this time. It is No More Rumour! It is really *Official*! :-D
So, the K-01 is not that bad at all. I especially like its extraordinary ability to stand vertically without the need of a tripod! Brick has its real advantage! ;-D
My suggestion is NOT to upload photos to Instagram unless you are willing to LOSE the ownership of your photos! >:-|
Btw, I don't know if Facebook will change to a similar new set of terms shortly. By that time if that happens, I am afraid that we have to delete our facebook accounts so as to save our copyrights! :-o
3. Sigma has market a new 18-250 in K-mount with HSM and OS built-in:-
Well, whilst I do agree that the SP is easy to clean and it is very sturdy, I found that it is also a bit more shiny when it is compared to traditional SMC coatings on the front glasses. Thus, more light could be lost and it should be a trade-off after all. :-(
This may be useful for those who need to do astro-photography in a continuous way without any interruption for longer time exposure per shot.
As for the latest Pentax DSLR models after K-r (i.e., K-r, K-5, K-30, K-5II and IIs) that cannot open the Debug mode by the above method, you can try to use the PK Tether software and then load the SYSPARAM.TXT file at the SD Card Root to see if it works or not! And please let us know about your result if you really try!
Btw, today, I've just come across these photos taken by a Japanese with his EOS 60D and 10-17mm wide angle lens combo. They are quite nice, look:-
N.B. Pentax DSLRs using the Samsung sensors (i.e., K20D and K-7) do not have any option to turn off the DFS (Dark Frame Subtraction) whereas other Pentax DSLRs using the Sony sensors can have the option to turn off DFS for exposure that is not longer than 30 seconds, otherwise DFS is forced to be turned on again.
Well, I am not "lying", it clearly shows that it is a 24-seater K3 van, not a bus nor a train of course, as the FF train has already been missed by Pentax these days! Lol..
