Pentax Q DxOMark is Out

See: http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Cameras/Camera-Sensor-Database/Pentax/Q

And for all the detailed measurements and results:-

http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/Cameras/Camera-Sensor-Database/Pentax/Q#tabs-2

A quick comparison to the Nikon J1 (with a 1" sensor) and the Olympus XZ-1 (with a 1/1.7" sensor) reveals that the Q is rated in between. Still, don't hope for higher ISO performance for lower noise, as the standardised threshold limit for "tolerable" noise level is at ISO 189 only, i.e., less than ISO 200.

So, how about the differences when the Q is compared to micro-4/3 or even APS-C entry mirrorless cameras of the latest. See this comparison against the Oly E-PL3 and the Sony NEX-C3.

Of course, you can continue to change to any other DxO tested cameras and compare endlessly till the end of the day! I would better stop here now~ ;-D

Come on Rice, give the poor Q a bit of slack. Now despite the bemoaning of the ISO performance you have to admit that it turns in very impressive performance for a tiny sensor. If the price comes down .. imagine a $300 Q? That would be very interesting, no?

My Pentax WG-1 GPS costed me almost $400. Do no more dreaming and be realistic, man!
Well yesI was being at bit unrealistic, but my point is that the camera has the potential to be very appealing to many photographers out there were it not for the high price. The street price for the Canon G12/Nikon P7100 etc is around $400/450. I think it is reasaonable to assume that a higher volume cheaper version without the fancy magnesium body could be priced at $500 with a $450 to $400 street price. We will see what Ricoh does with it, although Ricoh's cameras have always been pricey too. Ricoh has stated it wants to grow it's camera market share in the DSLR/ILC arena which would require volume and therefore lower prices.
now the price of Q is AUD 199.95. currently sold out tho.
