K-01 Does Not Retain Image Details

Someone discovered this with the IR's "Comparometer". So, it seems that the IQ of the K-01 is not something that we should praise about, despite that it has obtained a high DxOMark. See this capture, for a quick comparison against the NEX-7:-

Indeed, it looks rather poor and pathetic after all! :-(

Shouldn't the "Comparometer" be renamed to "JPEGometer"? As that's what it's comparing...

But I agree, the JPEG engine in the Pentaxes could have done a better job. That's why I shoot in nothing but RAW. Shooting JPEG only is like shooting on film, and throw the negatives away after printing them...

I still have thousands of RAW images that were shot with my *ist D, DS and K100D but which I have never reprocessed them after the first time!
I think not only the JPEG engine of the K-01 is lame, I'm afraid that Pentax has sucked some inside quality out of the camera, no matter for the hardware and/or the software.
Yeah, right. Every Pentax camera must be worse than the ones before it ;)
It's a well known Pentax NR issue; the details are there, in RAW.
16 VS 24 mpxls...
Now, open the comparometer, and look the green zones at 1600iso, K-01 have better details rendition with that color.

Not a pixel count issue, for sure!
try another picture style. Default picture style is too saturated

It is not the first time that a Pentax camera has relatively poor performance with respect to handling reds! The K5 is the same, see dpreview , the reds with Pentax suffer from slightly less detail compared to other makes. Surely it's better to look at its overall image quality than nit- pick at its weakest points.
One thing seems to becoming increasing clear, the K01 produces cracking image quality compared to the smaller sensor cameras and they are struggling to match the IQ of the K01 as a result, reds or no reds!

Try to use color targets after all ;)
Are the NR turned off when this pictures were shot?
Wow what a revelation! OMG chuck out all that crappy Pentax Gear. And DXO what a bunch of hacks!! Thank god we have people trolling for anything negative!! and why Compare apples to apples, really lame....

The problem is the Pentax NR needs to be set to "off" it's not really off, and IMO can't match Nikon's jpeg quality but it does help the red smear issues. As for raw well that is known to be semi cooked too which leads to splodges of colour at high ISO and the inability of LR to map hot pixels out. I have issues with both the K-r and K-x on this one.

DxO revealed the raw NR problems and I wish Pentax would just cut it out
