Yes, for sure!
All of the Pentax 40mm Pancakes rely on a five element design that is pushing 40 years old. The new Canon is a six element design. Should be interesting to see how well the new Canon 40mm performs versus the dated Pentax design.

Alas still no mfg. pancake lens for Maxxum/Sony mount.

Canon is not Tessar. It's Planar.
This pancake is a little bit thick. More like cake, or other treats ;), but it's an interesting development.
